  1. CAVU Aviation in Riverside (KRAL). Did my annual there earlier this year.
  2. Geez! Click-bait on MS?? What's the world coming to???
  3. My guess? Al Mooney was the original CB Rubber discs were cheaper than oleos. Plus, pretty much zero maintenance until worn out. (I don't think the discs cost the ridiculous amount they do now, even adjusted for inflation, when they were originally designed in)
  4. @rpcc $500 is INSANE! I've always done my own oil changes on my 996TT; $20 for filter from PelicanParts, and $65 for 10 qts of Mobil full synthetic. Honestly, one of the easier cars to change the oil. Filter is easily accessible on the TOP of the engine, drain plugs can be reached without even jacking the car! Just slide the drain pan under, reach in and undo the plugs. Of course, I'm a total CB owner...
  5. I'd be shocked to find out TI didn't contract any fab work. I suspect it is product line dependent. Well, good for TSMC...maybe they are getting a bit worried about their country's continued sovereignty! It's always been a global economy, we just used to lead it especially regarding semiconductor technology.
  6. Ah, didn't realize the "part" was a module. I was thinking an IC. As you say, they could be assembled anywhere.
  7. Just to pile on....I can see NO justification for sinking that kind of money, for which you will take a 50% hit, into a plane you are planning to sell in the next few years. NONE! That panel is just fine. Fly and enjoy it. Save the money for your 'forever' plane.
  8. Uh huh,...with wafer fab at TSMC
  9. I'm sure if you pull hard enough on the belt you can shear that pin!
  10. Ah, forgot Duncan was in the middle. Now my cynicism says Duncan is under capitalized and BK won’t extend them any credit. Yet, if I understand, Duncan has the STC… sheesh, what a royal CF!
  11. Sign me up for that plan!!
  12. Hmm, I need to look at that as it sounds a lot more viable as a decent location. For once, glad I have electric gear!
  13. WOW! After reading this thread my cynical opinion is they STILL do NOT have product available to sell It sounds all the world like they don't have enough capital to actually build them, so they are getting full money up-front, with no delivery commitment, in hopes of using the money to buy parts and manufacture! What could possibly go wrong?? Glad my STEC-30 with altitude hold soldiers on.... hope I didn't just jinx myself
  14. Passenger seat back pocket. Worry it will get launched through the roof in bad turbulence but none of the fixed mounting options are appealing for all the reasons stated by others.
  15. I blame it all on magnetohydrodynamic instability
  16. I would recommend NOT making those two points with SWMBO or you will find yourself doing 1 and proving 2 because SWMBO will own the house As you say, "Know your priorities."
  17. The question I ask myself in that situation is a bit different: Should I risk losing my home to buy a toy? The fancy interest rate/depreciation/inflation assumption math isn't part of my 'equation'
  18. But, it is NOT in a wind tunnel. The aircraft is moving IN the air mass; I maintain you are NOT extracting any energy from the airstream. The energy is coming from the kinetic and potential energy of the aircraft. Pedantic, sure. But, it is NOT a frame of reference issue.
  19. Is the energy being extracted from the airstream, or from the kinetic and potential energy in the aircraft?
  20. I've found that, on a hot day, if I'm stopping for less than an hour or so, leaving the oil door open helps quite a bit when it comes time to start up. A lot of heat will exit from the opening and draw in cool outside air from the cowl flaps.
  21. That sounds good but I’d think a hand center punch would still be subject to enough placement inaccuracy to be less than ideal. I guess I should just watch the video!
  22. WARNING: Thread drift... Not an A&P, never drilled a rivet in my life. So, how do you drill exactly in the center of the rivet head? Seems the drill would skip or get off-center more times than not. Is there some special tool??
  23. Mine came in a metal case like Greg’s but I don’t think it has a label; need to look. Definitely not the latest as mine has the blue sleeves. I sense I’m about to spend more money….sigh.
  24. How do I identify the version/revision of the Vividia 'scope I have? I didn't see any obvious marking on it.
  25. Do I understand correctly that your A&P sent off your prop and gov without calling you first?
