  1. I fly out of NASCAR international so I’m used to getting last minute reroutes, 360’s on short final etc to let the jets in. I had the bright idea of bringing the tower guys BBQ from a local joint and put my tail # of the outside of the to-go box so they know who it came from. Now I get a “please” when given a reroute or 360 on short final. Chalk up another win for the eman.

  8. Thanks! Although I've flown VFR over undercasts before (perfectly legally, of course), it's obviously better to be on the instrument flight plan and have more outs, or at least the skillz to get you through it.
  9. Flew round trip IFR from Charlotte to west palm beach for thanksgiving, not a cloud in the sky in either direction. But of course I had head winds both ways. 40kts on the way back.

  12. Total wild-ass guess but I’m leaning towards his CFI not allowing him to video stuff, specifically his solo, so he was quickly trying to hide it. Can’t think of another reason why he’d rush to remove the camera that fast. Maybe another reason would be “oh sht, I don’t want any evidence found of how I screwed up so lemme grab this camera real quick then I’ll only post it to the internet where nobody will ever see it”. Otherwise I’m at a loss.

The OP just got a new plane so I understand the focus on checklists, but for those who have owned for a while, only fly your own plane, and fly regularly, how much are you REALLY using a checklist? I have mine with me all the time but it never changes, there’s almost zero reason for me to ever look at it at this point if I don’t know how to start my plane I probably shouldn’t be flying it. Now when I was renting, flying different planes, 100% checklist usage. Now? Strictly for reviewing emergency procedures. There, I said it. Checklists? C’mon, man!
