  1. Kees, I have a complete 14V KFC200 autopilot that I will be removing from my 1980 Seneca for a GFC500 upgrade. (May as well do it now while I am installing a complete new stack). What parts do you need? The serves and controller are probably the same. The 'computer' came in different dash numbers, and a board for the flight director. I would try keeping yours going until a GFC500/600 becomes available? Don
  2. I have a spare TSIO360MB core with 1750tt - lets get it overhauled and ready for when your engine really needs changing. Aerodon supercub180@gmail.com
  3. macfarlanes make nice throttle and mixture cable bolts, washers etc. Aerodon
  4. Depends what model Mooney and what is installed already. If it's a basic EDM700, and there's not a lot of panel space, I would just add options - FF, OAT, OT, MP, RPM etc. all the way up to an EDM800. I can help with transducers, trades etc. This will be 'plug and play' with an EDM730/830, but two things are harder with this a) panel space, b) the EDM830 has a ferrite filter and heavier gauge power and ground wiring. Then with almost any Mooney - if you have doubts or problems with any of the OEM gauges or transducers, think seriously about going straight to an EDM900 or 930. Aerodon
  5. Mine is similarly equipped, with dual alternators, weighed at the factory as 2046. Aerodon
  6. WEIGHTS Gross Weight: 2,900 LBS Empty Weight: 2,049 LBS Useful Load: 897 LBS Fuel Capacity: 75 GAL 252's really need the Encore conversion
  7. I doubted you, all the ones I have seen have dual alternators. But this one has the space for the second 70A circuit breaker. I have the rear end of a TSIO360MB engine with the dual drive alternator if the buyer is really interested. Aerodon

  9. I eventually went with the aft mounted tail and strobe lights. I have a couple of the AeroLEDS thad didn't fit, and I have the old wingtips, might have one halogen that works. Aerodon supercub180@gmail.com
  10. My 231 had 3 of one kind and one of another. All in the parts manual or maintenance manual showing the sequence and orientation of components. Putting it in - I don't think you are going to find detailed process? Aerodon
  11. My guess is there is some government or corporate customer that doesn't blink at those costs. Things like this that make me appreciate the laws being developed around 'right to repair'. Gaining ground in Europe, and will come to North America. Aerodon
  12. I have found a 'desktop' type appraisal is good enough for an insurance company, after all, they are accepting your number on the insurance value anyway. Yes they have limits, but i have found that with a little information on avionics and engine times, they will adjust quite easily. Vref is free if you are an AOPA member, I find them a bit on the high side for 'real market values' but a good basis for insurance numbers. It always make sense to try over insure by so that a) in a write-off, you get fairly compensated, b) in the event of major damage, you don't end up with a check and relinquishing your plane. I have seen guys have to go through this process (underinsured) and it's not fun. Aerodon
  13. I bought the EDM930 from Greg at a good price, so this week only I will sell a 730/830 system at a really good price. 1) EDM730/830 head - nice 2019 unit with no blemishes. 2) I can build up a complete system with new harnesses and probes, or just what you need to get a fully operational 730 or 830. The 830 has RPM, MP and % power if you have OAT. 3) Will take good working EDM700's in trade. Display must be good. Contact me directly please with EDM830 in the title. supercub180@gmail.com Aerodon
  14. If that's true, why would anyone ever buy and Avidyne product now knowing that at some point down the road they are going to sell off the repair business. Aerodon
  15. I have a spare new chrome 4-bladed MT spinner for a Mooney if anyone is interested......
  16. Ethan, The accessory case is different for a 'factory' dual alternator, it has a pulley for the belt drive alternator. I have a complete setup from a 28v engine I may part out instead of overhauling, but these components are expensive. I suspect the parts may even be listed in the LB parts manual, so that part of it is easy. The more difficult part is approval for your plane. The 252 uses a complete 'active' dual system with master / slave regulators. Later Mooneys had a #1 or #2 alternator. Aerodon
  17. I do, but the M20J / K panels are the tightest of all manufacturers and it does not fit nicely. Mooney also uses 0.100 panels vs. Cessna 0.090 and Piper 0.060. Aerodon
  18. Mmm, I gotta think about that one. Two surface G5's look OK, imo one by itself sticking out hurts my eyes. Which one is easier, I agree, there are a lot of variables. Physically, they are about the same to mount in a 3" hole. But with a G5 - if you need a GAD29 box for interfacing to other radios, you need to find space for that and mount it too. Two more connectors. Then if you want Air Data, you need a GAD13 One more connector. Your installer had a nice easy location on the rear avionics shelf for these two boxes, and was going there anyway for the GFC500 servoes. I have installed a GAD29 behind the panel and it took a lot of time to fabricate a bracket and mount it properly. Both use the same GMU11 magnetometer and GTP59 temp probe. (you can use a less expensive Davtron probe with the G5). The GI-275 has so many more pins, because there are multiple more interfaces that you can use to hook up to analogue, arinc and HDSB GPS/Nav/sComs. Don't count the pins and connectors and assume they all need to be connected. You have 2 G5's, GFC500, OAT, HDG, and a Avidyne 540. You have 2 remote boxes (GAD13 and GAD29) remote mounted at the rear of your plane. It would be an interesting exercise, but I am pretty sure that you would have almost the exact same number of pins to connect whether you used a G5/GAD29B/GAD13 or a GI-275. (maybe the 4 pins of the config module are extra). The GI-275 is the 'centre of the universe' with pigtails going to GFC500, OAT, GMU11, GPS. With the G5, the GAD29 is probably the 'centre of the universe', with pigtails going to the GFC500, the G5, OAT, GMU11 and GPS. I just looked a GI275 Attitude and HSI combo lists for about $8800. A G5 Attitude and HSI with Nav interface is about $6600. (not sure if GMU11 and GTP59 are in or out of those prices). Aerodon
  19. Three basic options: 1) The NSD360 is extremely complicated mechanically and electrically, beth belts, gears etc that can wear out. It will cost a lot to overhaul properly and even then you might get only a few more years. You could buy someone else's 'as removed' but only get something marginally better. 2) A G5 is a nice HSI, but if you need the GAD29 box to interface to your radios. the installation, the installation gets more complex. Its hard to flush mount in a M20J panel and looks out of place if you don't. 3) The GI-275 has become a cornerstone of the Garmin lineup, will be around for more years than the G5. It's a very much more robust unit than the G5, and overall easier to install. Your can buy a Garmin adaptor bracket and it will fit right in where your NSD was. Also more likely to interface better with your autopilot. I think you or a future buyer will like your plane most with a GI-275. Don
  20. I have multiple yellow bricks on the shelf and will never buy a Kannad again. Ever. All of them draw more than the minimum standby current, and the service centre I spoke with says it is because they have been tested without an antenna. They say they know the problem, know what to fix, won't guarantee it won't happen again. And the cost of the repair and a battery will add up to more than you can get a pretty decent unit from the green brick supplier. If I'm wrong, and you can come up with a workable repair solution, let me know. Aerodon
  21. Tragic, your wife damaged your airplane - now you have to trade it in on a newer, faster more expensive replacement. Aerodon
  22. Anyone crazy enough to want a complete KFC150 autopilot from a 1986 252 with 1750tt? Or just the VS / Altitude capture components? Or should I part it out. Aerodon supercub180@gmail.com Edit, I see the servos are labeled 14/28V, so maybe these can be used for replacing servos in a 14V plane too?
  23. I'm sure it varies by year. Some switches are on the busbar that is fed any a 70A Aux CB. The Primer button is not on this busbar and is protected by an inline fuse off this busbar. The Trim on the KFC150/200 autopilot is completely separate. You are probably correct, a trim switch that is not part of an autopilot is probably on the busbar. Aerodon
  24. The Trim switch is not on the busbar, so you should be OK. Aerodon
