What I find is there are many opinions that tend to contradict. any trip over an hour and I am at 9500 or above depending on winds and based on my POH I am at 76% and 25 deg lean of peak. This I knew I was just trying to get a handle on the whole red box thing. As for politics no, I am way too conservative even for Texas.

I appreciate the information you posted why ruin it with a cheap shot

Dude that was way too harsh. I under stand all the concepts and formulas listed here the fact that I want to keep learning is born out that I bother to ask. My POH is very limited on the subject as is my EGT gauge. I guess since I can't afford a fancy engine monitor you might think I should not be a member of this community. I am a very thoughtful pilot and only want to get better. I have some choice words for your comments that only apply face to face

OK let's clear the air. The more I read this post the dumber I get. If I run WOT 2450 to 2500rpm leaned out to smooth of rough Cht around 380 to 400 degrees and any where from 6500 to 10500 am I in the red or not?

Mine had 2 cracks that were repaired a year ago. It has just developed a new one and I don't want to weld it up again. Per Dan at LASAR need to see pics including detail of the holes. PM me your info. Thx

WHEW! What a relief I am still in the Mooney even though it's not a 201 that I own. As typical the questions have very limited answers. For Me Aviation movie would be Jet Pilot. I used to own a Ninja now I'm on a Yamaha FZ1 choice of Military aviation F16 or A10 Favorite Pilot in history Chuck Yeager or any one that flew SR71"s I was worried I might have to buy a Bonanza.

Another thing you might do is if there is another C in your area that has a flown out motor and prop but solid airframe you might patner up and make one solid bird. Could be a win win or both owners.
-
Don't give up on your bird sections can be removed and replaced it depends on the pieces that are affected. We bought what was supposed to be a no gripes 64D and when it went in for annual (at LASAR) there was 16k worth of needed repairs. It was painful but now we have a solid bird. Next month is time for its annual and I will be very nervous. In fact I would rather get a cat scan an MRI and a colonoscopy at the same time than the annual. I know that if it can be fixed LASAR will know it. If it indeed comes to parting it out do what you can to recover your loss like triple8s said. Don't give up on your dream to fly. Any thing that can be made can be fixed. Hang in there.

And from a previous post no random FAA ramp inspections.

Hey bob that's good to hear. Today will be the first test going for my BFR.

We just got ours in one it has heat compressed air and a storage loft. Our 150 sat out for 4 years and it took its toll we always had a cover on the canopy but the paint did suffer a bit. Our mooney had to sit out for a year and all I could think about is no security on the field and even though the winters here are mild the summer sun is unreal and would destroy a cover in less than 2 years. That's 300 dollars you need to add to your calculation. The one advantage to tie down is how quick you can get and go.

Glassair announces new LSA starting at $149950 !

The connection between the LSA certificate and the LS aircraft is a subject that gives me fits. The manufactures pushed for the 1320 GW to keep cessna 150 and piper 140's as well as skippers and tomahawk aircraft from fitting the spec. If you want to bring in new pilots you need to keep the price of admission low enough to bring them in. A C150 is the perfect light sport 2 seater can't go faster than 110 and a good one can be found for well under 20 grand. Not to mention they are fun little airplanes and you can beat the crap out of them and they keep on flying. Increase the GW to 1600 and see if more future pilots start their LS training. -
I know what you mean when we first googled our Cessna I was none to happy all my info came up. But lets be honest THEY KNOW EVERY THING ABOUT US ALREADY. I see that you dont have to provide your N on this site so dont. I just thought it was something fun and for me I could see how well me and my bird performed that day.

My wife and i were checking out Flight aware this morning and saw the record of a flight we made back in Jan. gave me an idea. so i started looking at some of your flights. loads of fun and since most of the forums are of a technical nature i thought i would put it out there. look and see what were all doing with are cool airplanes. i saw some really impressive speeds for some of you.

The thing I love the most at my msc is they allow owner assist. I do a lot of the work myself and they check me but believe me I follow them on all the stuff they do to make sure its done right. and the service manager double checks each item before its signed off. mine goes in next month but should be routine since last years (its first) with me as new owner we fixed everything. Around 16 grand good job on the safe landing by the way. After my cessna got an annual its first flight we dropped a cylinder at 150ft agl on take off.

straight and level @ 7500 2500/24mp to Stockton last year for eddy inspect had 155K indicated and 201mph ground. last weekend flight following to Las Vegas advised I had a Bonanza 2.5 miles behind he was told to desend to FL10 to pass under us we were at FL105 indicated AS135K with three on board appoximately 855lbs load. he never caught up.

I think the most important thing is to set base line indications for your aircraft. Pressure typically rises with load and rpm and it takes a bit of time for the temps to get fully warmed up internal parts expand at different rates. What is normal for your engine
-
Marauder you just wanted to let everyone see your very cool panel. pressure on my envy meter went way up.

The fast guys have the speed brakes that come out the top of the wings. mine drop from the bottom and I cant use um till i hit 120 and i cant land until 80 and i cant get to 100 or 80 no less until i drop those big rubber speed brakes. But I still GUMPS out loud on every aproach.

any of you ever thought about flying a helicopter?
bonal replied to rbridges's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
First ride was in an old Sikorsky with a round engine they spun up the big fly wheel with a start cart and dumped all the energy into the motor till nothing then BANG black smoke shaking until they got the rotor up to speed. No side door real fun ride. After that I did infra red transition line patrols. I remember dropping in over a ridge I had my head in the scope started to hear the rotors whopping and I asked the pilot to slow the decent and he said he was all the way up on the collective. We had to make a few passes to get the temps on that section of wires. Wild ride. My last RW ride was to survey the damage to the elect distribution and transition lines the morning after the Oakland hills fire in 91 We were making passes N/S while the air attack guys were working E/W on alternating runs. The governor wanted to do a fly over and the ATC guys told them they had to wait until the PG&E guys were clear. HA HA! -

If any one is into a good read on the subject check out the book Chickenhawk. It's written by Robert Mason (I think) story about a young guy wants to fly signs up to be a warrant and ends up in Vietnam he really puts you in the cockpit lots of amazing stories. -
The sanctions have been left in place as a legacy to JFK heaven forbid they ever reverse a Kennedy policy. At least he knew enough to lower taxes to spur the economy.

I'll never complain about my gauges again

The F15 F16 and the A10 plus the amazing B52 still rule and the FA18 seems to be doing the job from the sea. My Nephew was stationed at Langley and while we were there for a visit we watched the Raptors fly every day. I hope they get the bugs worked out cause that thing is really impressive. A real fun movie to watch is called jet pilot with the man John Wayne. The story is kind of corny but the flying scenes with the F86's are really cool
