    Seems like there are a number of military and commercial pilots that fly Mooney's as there personal aircraft. Thats a good sign. but I find it interresting that and F15 pilot at 6'3 170lbs has a tough time getting in and out of the left seat. man I'm a 50 plus something 5'10" 215 pounder and I have no issues. one thing I have noticed is every one seems to climb in and out in front of the right seat. i like to put it all the way forward with the left all the way back and you can just drop right in from a standing position.

    M20doc I was thinking the same thing. Every one says if you bounce the landing you should do the go around. I guess the only difference would be intent. At least when one does a T and G your mind set will be on procedure

    Not sure what model it is but a Dewalt cordless driver. Mine goes with on our trips worst place to be removing cowlings with a screw driver is on some ramp away from your hangar as night approaches.

    Best of luck and as always please share the answer when you find out what's going on with it. One of the good things when we have issues is the added knowledge we all get from the space.

    If your budget is 50k you might want to keep your price point under 40 because as you will see on many posts about first Mooney's the first year is always going to be pricey. Not always the case I'm sure but it seems to be the consensus of most folks here. Good luck and be sure to get a good PPI. Fun fun fun!

    What was outside air temp if you approach and are full rich you could foul your plugs I have heard of this causing Mooney's to quit right after landing. Did you do an aggressive lean after landing with your throttle out to idle?

    Did they have the blue fuel dope on the threads. The reason I asked is when I had my annual done a few months ago I had a new OH carb put in. yesterday after completing my oil change we did a run up to check for leaks well they spotted a fuel leak on the fitting between the fuel line an the carb and it had the blue fuel dope on the threads. we pulled the fitting (and it was tight) and replaced with white pipe dope (not teflon). and the leak stopped.

    Shotgun? mine looks more like a drunk Irishman thowing darts way past closing time at the pub. at least everything works. Those panels on Hendrics web site look great, maybe someday but for now I must live vicariously through others.

    Just a bit longer flight to KSLO 250 dollars less is the prop shop the name of the business? how is the service. i am definetly interresed in checking them out. N9154V have you used them before.

    As pilots, Safe pilots we have so many things to always be aware of so many things that can effect our journeys. On a trip to Santa Barbara flying with my instructor IFR over LAX class B at 10,500 with the marine layer under us had the smoothest air you can imagine with a deep blue sky above felt like I was at the controls flying for South West Airlines. Then we hit the San Gabrial Mountains and Got slammed with a down draft and blew our altitude for a moment but still had enough climb to recover. FLYING IS SO COOL

    Amen brother the move from our 150 to the mooney has added a lot to our flying as much as I enjoyed the 150 my wife wanted something faster (lucky me). I'm not sure where the terrain back east would force a 9000 foot climb heck I got gofer mounds in my back yard taller than most of the hills east of the rocky's

    What's the matter hank don't you like to fly backwards from time to time. 12500 seems fine in our DC 135K IAS is about normal at 2500rpm with the MP off an inch from max available. Me the wife full fuel and around 60lbs in the back.

    9 hours till 100 will be heading to Stockton CA for the dreaded EI the shop that does the inspection is not affiliated with Top Gun and charges 350. I think for my retirement years I will get certified purchase the tester and offer the service for a reasonable price. I know inspections are for the good but I sure do get antsy when they come up.

    There is something about being at an airport I can't think of any place I can go that gives me a greater sense of peace and balance it's hard to explain. My home field is very quiet most times the stillness only broken occasionally by the sound of an airplane coming or going, my favorite sound. You can here them for a long time and then so peaceful until the next arrival or departure that may not come for hours. I wish I could spend more time there.

    That's a real nice looking C you got there looks fast what kind of speeds are you getting out of her.

    Can't imagine allowing some one I don't know to enter let alone go up in my bird. I don't use public trans for the same reason. At least the airlines have some security but we see how that can be defeated at times. Don't face book don't twitter this is the only place I have any interaction with people I don't really know. I have a high respect for the pilot community and those that are involved in aviation so I think it is a safe bet.

    5 10 and dont have any problems with the short body Mooney. If I want to be in the NASCAR driving postion I move all the way up For the 24HRS LeMans I put the seat back a bit. When I'm all the way forward its still comfortable and you have decent rear seat room. for just 2 the short body would be just fine and I must admit it would be nice to have the extra 20HP of the E

    Just ordered a new set of Tempest plugs (cant wait to get them in) from Spruce. great service as usual and since they are being sent from Georgia the shipping was reduced for the 3 day making it less than regular ground. Spruce has never missed the mark. I have called to inquire some things from Geek and was not happy with the service.

    Our trips were from NorCal so can't be much help but when we go to Vegas we fly to Boulder city and the FBO has a rental car ready and don't charge for tie down since we buy fuel. If you have never seen the Hoover dam it's a nice trip and you can get out on lake mead vegas is an easy half hour drive and boulder city is super easy in and out. We flew over some of those solar fields in the Mohave desert pretty amazing.
