Zeftronics, yes. No problems at all since using the correct battery. Tried to get clever to avoid having to remove all 3 cowlings but that was before I got into a hangar and have power and needed to remove the battery to keep it on a tender during winter. The smaller 25 series can be installed with just a left cowl removal but it don't have the strength needed for the 360.

I have a Skytech starter but also have a generator that needs at least 1500rpm to start making good voltage it works fine but when it fails I will convert to an alternator. My Concord 35 is working fine hot or cold I get fast starts every time. Battery tech has advanced in many applications other than aviation. Look at the numbers on automotive batteries compared to aircraft. Over twice the power for less than half the price. They are heavy but I think that could be addressed if the manufacturers wanted to do so. And again that brings us to the certified vs experimental debate.

Only met 1 so far although I see many that are based near by. LASAR is hosting a BBQ on the 27th perhaps some will be there.

I can think of several cases where I have found information that proved very helpful here on MS. From simple to complex ground to flight opp's. A great source of info and fellowship

I think pilot skill can not always be measured by status. There are excellent Private pilots as well as not so excellent professional pilots. Recall the Asiana crash at SFO or the one at Buffalo both incidents were the result of poor training and procedure. Personally I have much to learn and hold a great respect for pilots that achieve airline or military flight status. If I were 30 years younger I would pursue such a career. As for me I have practiced touch and go because I don't ever want to be unprepared for some thing unexpected.

I tried going with a smaller bat so I could remove it without having to remove all 3 cowlings. Used a Gill G25 and you only have to remove the left cowl. Guess what. That G25 had a real hard time pushing through and if I had a short run like taxi to fuel it was unable to recover well enough to give me a second start. Good luck with the 50.00 bat. An O360 has big f.ing pistons and a lot of compression to push. I learned my lesson bought a Concord 35s and enjoy real fast starts every time.

M20k 231 - KFC 200 autopilot nasty behavior
bonal replied to fatalflaw's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Not sure about the different systems I'm curious can the pitch control be deactivated while maintaining heading or NAV control. My Stek is only one axis. If you could turn off pitch you could at least trim out manually until problem fixed. -
Our freedom is under attack on many fronts. The gov't and many other organizations view us as 1% types that need to be slammed for the collective good. GA is one of the last and greatest freedoms we have. Washington has gained much power by using class warfare as a way of dividing the people. These examples of gov't intrusion scare the hell out of me. I hope you can find a way to make the corrections they require. No matter what the estimate I'm sure there is quite a bit of labor that you could do if you find a shop or AP that allows it. Hang in there!

I think as long as the hangar is used for an aircraft you should be able to have aviation support items in there as well. Items that come to mind tools and equipment and you need a big screen so you can check the weather and a couple of nice chairs to sit and a fridge for storing important liquids etc. there are a lot that have no aviation related things in them and it lowers supply and keeps the prices high.

Propeller Eddy Current Inspection
bonal replied to Hawth200's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
130 to 135 indicated knots gave us 145 knots on the GPS at 8500 with MP at 23 about 1 down from WOT. And our new tempest plugs seemed smoother and gave better climb power than the old Champions. -

Took the day off and flew down to,San Luis Obispo to visit Eric at Golden state propellor today for the ECI. Had a real nice flight a real nice lunch and a real nice inspection. He charged us 120.00 about 230.00 les than last time. We used about 18 gallons more in fuel so we saved about 110.00 and I got to fly an extra 2 hours. That is a win win and I'm good for another 100hrs. The trip home average about 145kph at 8500 yippee!!! -
Partners dilemma. Advice on moving forward
bonal replied to craftyboy's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Seems the talk got a little off target. I think we all agree that there is plenty of space inside. Getting back to the original point about partnerships. Even though it gives you the ability to own more airplane than you can afford (there is a point in there I think) you now become dependent on others to keep things on the up and up. Even though I have to bare all the cost I love the fact it's all mine. -

NICE, now if I could just figure out those elusive 6 winning numbers. -
converting to a new instrument panel

HEY, I like those creepy red lights. makes me think I'm in a U-boat -
Thanks for the tip, hope your trip is a great one. What rout are you flying?

My POH says the same thing 75% lean to peak temp then past to 25 deg drop. usually by then I'm running rough. it's very inconsistant and with only one probe you cant be certain what you have. for me its lean to rough then rich to smooth again. and keep an eye on the temps. its amazing how much variation i will see on the EGT gauge depending on the conditions each day for the same power settings.

Knee jerk reaction, pictures anyone?

I think it's Jacky-O. like the others we have had several 3 plus hour trips with 3 adults and no problems. some times on long flights my wife will curl up in the back and sleep she says it's comfortable that way. leaves the right seat open for ipad charts and such. She dont wake up until i pull the mixture. -
My wife and I did a good bit of CC in my first bird a C150 and when we hit turbulence she would get very tense and almost frightened at times. Now with our C she doesn't even flinch even when we hit some pretty big bumps. I asked her what the difference was and she said the Mooney feels solid and strong and much safer. We really like our 145ktas average at 8.5gph and we just fly a C. Hope yours likes the ride as much as mine

As some one that does not own a J that is something I was not aware of. My guess Jakl is the wife will prefer the more SUV like fit of the Bonanza and as such where you will likely end your search. Just sayin.

Try right seat all the way forward left all the way back. On your feet up and out. For me and my not so mobil as I used to be self its easy this way. I dont know maybe I just like being different.

Seems like there are a number of military and commercial pilots that fly Mooney's as there personal aircraft. Thats a good sign. but I find it interresting that and F15 pilot at 6'3 170lbs has a tough time getting in and out of the left seat. man I'm a 50 plus something 5'10" 215 pounder and I have no issues. one thing I have noticed is every one seems to climb in and out in front of the right seat. i like to put it all the way forward with the left all the way back and you can just drop right in from a standing position.

M20doc I was thinking the same thing. Every one says if you bounce the landing you should do the go around. I guess the only difference would be intent. At least when one does a T and G your mind set will be on procedure

Must have accessoy for a "new to me" 1966 M20E?
bonal replied to N9405V's topic in General Mooney Talk
Not sure what model it is but a Dewalt cordless driver. Mine goes with on our trips worst place to be removing cowlings with a screw driver is on some ramp away from your hangar as night approaches. -
DANGIT Marauder I was jus getting over my panel envy!
