  1. You should post your location.
  2. A 50% partnership on a 201 or more would be about the same cost as a nice E or F obviously you would be baring all the usual ownership costs by yourself but as the speed goes up so do the costs so it might be about the same over time. Just a thought. Good luck to ya.
  3. My man, you need help...
  4. Your lucky, you found Mooney space before you started thinking about getting a Mooney, I got mine and then as we all do had questions about this or that would go on line and put in a question and the search would always take me to M space I thought why not come here first and search. I am very happy with my Mooney now but if I had known about this great resource before I bought it I most likely would have passed on it and kept looking with a much better idea of what to look for and more important what to look out for. It is a good thing when we hear of a new pilot and a sad thing when someone is hanging it up. Best of luck in all your flying indevors
  5. Nicely shot video, liked the time laps images but weather that was piperpainter or not those back country tail draggers missed a rare bird indeed and should have captured the rare imagery of a Mooney bush pilot. but then they may have not wanted to show that those back country airplanes arent the only ones can enjoy that kind of country. agreed GO MOONEY!
  6. Yes I did its also in the middle of the second groupof pics. Looks real nice and I think they have it listed in their web site planes for sale. I;m sure they wont mind you asking some questions even if its a ways off in your future. The sooner you start to look the smarter you will be when it comes time to purchase, best of luck to you
  7. Yep, yours was the one with the cover on it. Very nice! How could you be up at our little hole in the wall airport and not make the Q.
  8. Actually I was just joking around but I really would not be surprised if they tried to add 2 seats. I have no issue with the people of China. I don't however like their system of govt. And as I see in the news the people of china are becoming more active about their freedoms and human rights issues and sooner or later their govt. is not going to be able to stop the power of freedom as they become more aware of the true power of that word. My comment was about the fact that a Mooney is a great aircraft and what they need there as there are vast areas not serviced by roads that a fast efficient aircraft can overcome. Take a deep breath and keep in mind I was making a point about a tuff resilient people. If someone called me a "gritty little sucker" I would take it as a compliment. And as a side note I always find it interesting if someone says something that someone else does not agree with or dislikes their first reaction is to censer that person.
  9. I dont think they have to worry, AOPA just posted that Mooney announced 43 orders for Acclaims and Ovations 35 are headed to China. Lets be real the China market does not give a rats about parachutes or most any of the other great ideas posted here. the majority of the airplanes are going to be sent to China and what they are getting is a hard core fast complex aircraft that is already perfect for the market there. As long as they keep most if not all the production here in the U.S. its a good thing.
  10. The story I heard was he veered off the runway applied the brakes too hard and put the nose down all 3 blades were shattered on the wooded prop with some minor damage to the cowling. Based on the weather it could have been a cross wind condition, Sorry you did not make it Dave it was a nice turn out.
  11. A couple more pics of the Mooney's we saw the busted prop on the kit fox but did not document the pilots misfortune.
  12. I Guess from a non pilot point of view it could be uncomfortable but the way I see it it's just a normal trait and only seems to happen in very light turbulance. when it starts getting bumpy then I get a sence of how strong and solid that airframe is as I have mentioned before my wife was very uncomfortable even in light bumps in the cessna but now even when I'm really paying attention to power and staying out of the yellow she is calm and relaxed. I'm one of the lucky ones that has a wife that loves to fly.
  13. Well there was an OK turn out for the LASAR BBQ yesterday and for the first time in a while the ramp was close to full added in part by some non Mooney arrivals that flew in for the splash in on the lake. Fridays weather was real unstable with large build ups producing heavy showers and some hail. Met some fellow Mooniac's including the owners of the 2 remaining unconverted D models. Every one seemed to enjoy the gathering and I would like to thank Paul and Shery for their hospitality. There were around a dozen or so Mooney's that made the trip. Photos to follow.
  14. OK seems I had a table on the subject, like all functions of areodynamics there should be different speed limits for different density altitudes like 100 at sea level 160 at FL12 perhaps it could blow out the back windows.
  15. Got some nice molded plastic ones from Spruce that are light and strong, in the hangar i just split the hand tow bar in half put the 2 pieces down front and back of the nose wheel its right there when I am ready to pull out.
  16. Oh to have a complete monitoring system. I have many high DA days in my summer. and like the others I run to 2000 lean to just rough then back for best RPM usually I get about 100 to 200 more than full rich so 2100 to 2200 RPM after adjusting. then a close watch on EGT and CHT as i climb. When I start out this way I usually dont have to lean further as I reach cooler air until about 4000ft AGL. seems to work OK for me.
  17. Perheps one thing we might do is have a place to post your experience's both good and bad for the places we encounter such as FBO's I know Airnav will show customer reviews on its site. maybe mooney space could add a FBO review category that we could use to specifically promote the good and warn of the bad. as I posted earlier ALL of my FBO encounters have been very positive. Bye the Bye Lampson Field 1o2 is hosting the Lake county Splash in this week end and the fuel will be discounted for the event and since LASAR is having its BBQ I hope to see some Mooneys on the ramp.
  18. See like I said I don't know much. I have been very lucky as far as all the FBO I have visited and why there is so much knowledge to be found here. When I got my ppl it was a license to learn.
  19. I most likely would not have even bought a Mooney if it had not been for the folks at LASAR got to know them before and learned a lot about the Mooney before I made my purchase. They never minded me stopping in even though I flew a 150 at the time. Good people. And yes they know Mooney's
  20. Well no offense meant I dont know much, but places like Camarrilo, San Luis Obispo, Calsbad CA, Santa Rosa, Napa CA Boulder City NV Missoula MT all seem like places people might like to go based on the number of jets that I park next to. There are several others that I would not call destination airports but they must have something going on cause there are jets all over the place, and none of them charge me for anything but gas and oil. maybe thats why I have to pay so much in taxes here.
  21. As for my rudder and tail Both are tight and correct no slop or play from pedal to tail. I must admit to sometimes taking my feet off the pedals in straight and level when I do the ball stays planted in the center and Snoopy fly's strait and true, when I hit a little ustable air he lets me know with a slight left right yaw. Its not pitch not roll and settles after a couple of swings. if your sitting in an office chair just swing left and right a few degrees each way slowly and thats what it feels like.
  22. My instructor friend told me a story once. he was flying a big transport 4 engine job I think. any way the attendant came up front and said the passengers were uncomfortable because the plane was yawing back and forth. It stopped briefly but then resumed. He later realized he had a song stuck in his head and was tapping the rudder to the beat,
  23. Man I must be stupid or something, Based on my experience none of the FBO's we have visited has ever charged me a ramp or tie down fee some have them but they are waived since I am getting fuel even when we stay many days. We have always gotten first class treatment even when we were flying our C150. In fact the FBO is one of my favorite parts about flying. Looking at most all of the posts on this subject seems like this might be an east coast mid west thing.
  24. Actually it's 1o2 so add another 57nm otherwise no problem. Longest to date just under 800 miles to Missoula MT. Some day we will make the coast to coast trip.
  25. Bingo! Correctamundo
