  9. I recently noticed erratic fuel pressure at cruise and needed richer then normal setting to keep the engine running smoothly. (11.5 gph vs the usual 8.5 gph). It ran smooth leaned out when I turned the electric boost pump on. The fuel screens on the fuel selector and fuel servo were clean and vent tube unobstructed so I’m pretty sure my mechanical fuel pump is degraded or getting ready to fail. Looks kind of hard to get to it without removing the mags or fuel filter. (My IA says mags need to be removed to access and estimates an 8 hour job but hasn’t actually done one before) Any recommendations on removal and installation of new fuel pump? Thanks mooneyspace.   14. Hi Glenn, I just got an email from Mike Elliot. I was on the wait list for the Summit VI. Looks like there’s an opportunity for me to go after all. I’d fly my F down but my medical cert is revoked for a little prostate cancer event that has been resolved and I’m presently jumping through hoops with the FAA. I expect to get it back soon. Anyway, if you want some company I can either meet you somewhere or you can zig towards KJYO. Leesburg VA. Otherwise I’ll just buy a ticket down. No worries if you’ve already made other plans.   15. It helps me make sense of it by realizing that the fuel injection spider sits on top of a hot engine. When you shut down, fuel boils down into the cylinders. Essentially you’re cylinders are already primed when doing a hot start. If you add throttle or mixture (even a small amount) you’ll flood your engine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I know what an IPA is. Heady Topper is my fav. [emoji481] Not sure what IPS is. If you’re referring to how much weight he put on, all I can say is he screwed 2 different weights onto the flywheel and validated the results with a 2500 rpm run up. What I was told is dynamic prop balancing should really be referred to as engine, prop and spinner balance. A lot of forces at work. Another small point is if you loose a blade or otherwise get massively imbalanced. The vibration forces could literally shake a motor off the aircraft which would be a very bad day indeed.   19. I recently sent my 3 blade Hartzell out for inspection and reseal. They statically balanced as part of their service. They suggested I dynamically balance when it got remounted which I just completed. I was completely blown away what a difference this made. I literally can put a glass of water on my dash and there would be no movement. Best $340 I ever spent. Sensenich prop at KLNS (Lancaster) did the work and takes 1-2 hours.
