I have noticed over the last several months I hear ATC talking to other Mooneys and have met a number Moonicas along the way. I want to assemble a list of Mooniacs that I can carry with me during my flights. For example I and a couple other Mooniacs are headed to SnF next week it would be great to have this information for the trip! I would like to request the following information from those who will share it with me. Could you PM me the following. I would not want to post publicly. Tail# Name MS Handle Caravan Call Sign Mooney Model Home base Phone Email Not going to share or distribute or use this list for anything other than making and staying in contact with other Mooniacs! Thanks in advance, Fly safe,

Not sure if the images your showing were during your climb but if so and your fuel flow was 22.5gph that would cause my Rocket CHT to be Hot! I climb out at close to 33gph on a hot day and less when cold I adjust mixture to keep CHT below 380 during take off. I typically climb out at 1200fpm @ 132kts. Home base high desert and hot often. Also my engine anayliser first had the banjo under the spark plug temapture prob that consistently indicated 45 hotter, changed to new dual sensor which resolved the higher single CHT issue display. Now you've got my interest up, I've climbed to and flown at FL 21 but never higher than that. No problem with climb but I was not in any hurry don't recall what my climb rate ended up as. I'll let you know when I fly next.

This is the sight picture I worked out. My long time friend is an excellent pilot with many years and many hours and provided an excellent and stable position. The sight picture to me was very similar in total to the Mooney... In total not specifically. I am very comfortable flying wing position of a 210 including a few turns and a couple cross-unders, under the right conditions and with an experienced pilot as I was flying with. Staggered take off at wheels cleared, in air rejoin to the inside after takeoff, very smooth my friend flew exactly as briefed. I don't see a major issue to mixing high and low wing. This was my friends first formation flight, we had previously done some air to air photo work a couple years back when I had my Saratoga but nothing in formation. Total flight was about 2.5 hrs so I had ample opportunity to tuck in for extended periods. We briefed and executed separation prior to our destination to which we both had to execute an IFR approach into Grandbury. We were IFR on top of the cloud deck, something like last years Mooney Caravan from SD to Maddison last year, without an IFR approach through the deck! Except for hand flying for 2.5hrs it was a great experience! Lol Overall a very good flight with no issues just the way we briefed! My friend of many years flew great, now if he just had a Mooney......

Tire Pirep I am in need of Mains for Rocket
RocketAviator replied to RocketAviator's topic in General Mooney Talk
Erik I bet you already know to be especially carefully with nose gear tire on Rocket a specifically called out heavier duty tire is required for our Rockets! Besides us Mooney Pilots don't make hard landings now do we? Especially those that have attended a Formation Clinic and learned how to flare without using flaps in a 90kt finial approach..... -
Tire Pirep I am in need of Mains for Rocket
RocketAviator replied to RocketAviator's topic in General Mooney Talk
After feedback I went with what I'll call middle to lower end of the cost spectrum Air Hawks I'll report on their results, hopefully not soon though! -
Hank is correct the best a builder can do is NOT to add any uncessary weight. I my case I restructured the tail portion of the fusuloge where I placed the battery and 2 servos as far aft as possible. I also installed a smaller fuel tank in the nose. Even after all that to get the CG correct I had to add a small 2 oz counter weight in the tail section.... i.e. my eqivelent to the 19lb ballast they added to my Rocket lol Was a lot of work but I sure enjoyed it and it was a bucket list for me... The cost was far more than could be justified but you know cost justification is not something all of us in GA are historically known for!

Welcome and Congratulations When do you expect to pick it up? Lots of Mooneyspace folks around SAT that are very helpful! I have flown with 480 & 530.. I felt the 480 was far ahead of its time when I flew with it but the 530 is SO much less complicated.

Not nice my heart sank..... Until I saw other posts! Never thought about it being April Fools Day... Well I guess I know what that makes me!

Here is a highly modified Cambrainplane scale fully fly able model of my Rocket with working lights and retractable and steerable landing gear The Cambrainplane model does not come with steerable nor retractable landing gear. Also had issues with laminated wings 3 sets in from England all 3 cracked and split within a few hours of taking them out of packing. They did send me replacements. I finally just laminated my own, had to get it completed by Mooney Homecoming last year. Was great fun but a lot of work. I also had trouble with Canopy, had to make a mold to thermoform a replacement after I slid my seat back into the model on a trip..... Argggg!

Well now that I know no one was hurt! It is hilarious!

Tire Pirep I am in need of Mains for Rocket
RocketAviator replied to RocketAviator's topic in General Mooney Talk
Well just one main Should I replcae both the other main looks good so I don't see a need to replace it. Worn tire is Michelin Good tire is Goodyear Have not looked at what specific tire each is. I know the front tire is specifically directed by a Rocket engineering for a heavier duty tire. -
Looking for recommendations on Tires Looking for best value Thanks in advance

Finally, an RC model that looks real in flight!
RocketAviator replied to DaV8or's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I built a highly modified scale model version of this model from Cambridge of my Rocket. I also built a vacuum thermoforming mold for the canopy of this model...cause I broke mine when I slid my seat into it returning from Mooney Homecoming in 2014! Oh and I did convert it to a Rocket with retractable gear, lighting & scale 3 blade prop! Definitely not for indoor flying, although I have not flown it yet I intend to at some point. -
Alumnium Polish - California Custom PIREP - Amazed!!
RocketAviator replied to Seth's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I must have done something wrong Got products in thought I followed the instructions to a T Left a slight cloud on my spinner I keep my spinner polished (with Mothers) I do agree the purple polish is less elbow grease than Mothers. Will try again tomorrow & call MFG if it does not work, I might be doing something wrong! -
Lifetime subscription option for FlyQ
RocketAviator replied to helitim's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I have been a lifetime subscription holder of FlyQ and the Windows Predecessor by Seattle Avionics called Voyager. SA did say there may be some small charges if FAA charges for the approach data in the future but only the charges they get from FAA. They are working on approach charts for Canada & Caribbean I have flown several hundred hours with thier products but have no dog in fight. No product are perfect there are several features I wish they offered.... They have had synthetic vision for several years it is not new to SA. I wish SA features included Auto flight log to include approach, night , TO, location etc Electronic check list Self definable quick keys Winds depicted by selectable altitudes (as does SA Voyager product has) Terran per flight plan (as does SA Voyager product has) Auto reconnect to Clarity SV AHARS AHARS health status & alarm notice when comm failure ADSB traffic info & ID including tail#, GS closing rate (like my Garmin setup provides) Ability to display Reported ceilings More refined weather briefing They have fixed or added several features I had wanted & requested so I'm happy for those. One thing I can say is the traffic with the Clarity SV is far better than my $$$ Garmin GTN 750 & Garmin ADSB setup! Fly safe -
