  1. My bad it was 210kts TAS @ 15.8 gph. The GS you can ck on flight aware. MP 35 2400 RPM
  2. I flew 1st leg from 5T6 to KBAZ at FL23 Climbed at 1200ft/min all the way full fuel 2 people & ample luggage TAS 240 GS reached a high of 288 GS during decent. But really at level flight a GS of 245 to 260kts. No CHT issues climbed at 31gph 140ish 1200ftm 36mp 2500 rpm Cursing at 15.8 LOP 348 highest CHT That's all folks For those that don't trust me check out flight aware! Fly safe!
  3. Hope to see & meet whoever is able at the Mooney Tent today at 11am Today is our last day hope to meet and put as many faces to their MS names as I can. PM me if you like! Fly safe

  6. Sure will do. Very slight bend.
  7. My Rocket does same thing have to clean it often... I always fly LOP.. thought it was due to lead. Interesting.
  8. The rudder joining tab is slightly be bent BY a knowledgeable person. Don Maxwell did my Rocket in less than 2 Min... I had exactly the same issue Don assured me after checking my rigging by sight it was correct, simply bent the joining seam about 3/4 up. Explained it is important that it be bent so the joint does not separate. If your close to Don I suggest you take it to him.
  9. Welcome & congratulations Any interest in participating with the Mooney Caravan to Oshkosh?
  10. Yea when I flew a TriMotor this year the CFII said Rudder more Rudder it a sponge.... applied a LOT of rudder and around we came..... great experience I'll never forget. Logged a whopping .3hr my most prized log time, at least up to now!
  11. Planning on 2 Mooney 1 Cirrus and 6 pilots arriving Wednesday, departure planned for Saturday morning... I'd be very interested in Pireps from any there ahead of us especially as it gets closer to Wednesday... Fly safe all, weather looked like #^$*@* when I glanced at it yesterday late!
  12. I snuck out to the airport this morning and had a phone conversation with my good friend Pinto who has had a lot of experience with mounting and using his Vib & GoPro on his plane. The only guy I know who might have had more is my friend gsxrpilot. I have seen both Pinto & gsxrpilot mounts including a sticky mount on the wing (something I am not going to do). I am thinking I would prefer my 3 cameras available mainly on the inside of the plane but also on the outside in some rare occasions (under wing, tail both high and low). Mostly I expect to have them inside the plane. The outside mounts on the tail will be for over the plane and under the plane views. I particularly want to see the landing gear and runway on a landing. Pinto cautioned about the oil spray from the engine. Working on mounting possibly up on the side of the tail where there are some screws now to avoid the oil spray on the lower mount. The upper mount I had installed nut inserts with my new ILS antennas anticipating a camera mount so I have 4 good screw mounts available on my vertical stabilizer in front of the ILS antennas. On my plane there are a number of physical mechinical screw / bolt down locations on the under side of the wings and the tail. I do not expect to have to modify anything except changing out a screw etc. #1 use will be for formation flying videos. #2 use will be for general flying videos. #3 use will be for outside viewing of landing and gear etc. I have the wifi but do not intend on using it. I am also in the camp of turn it on and leave it. The exception to that is if I have a co-pilot during a formation flight and I switch with lead or a wingman and the cameras are inside the plane the co-pilot can re-aim the cameras accordingly. Looking for a good means of infinitly varialbe position arms such as ball joint rods etc. I believe I have decided to try the cameras mounted on the inside center compass bar and one each on the shoulder strap anchor. Will see how it all works out.
  13. Well I guess I'm officially a candidate for the CB member of the week! I purchased 3 knock off GoPro cameras from Amazon So far the one I played with tonight worked as advertised. Will machine a mounting method, hope to install & test this weekend. I see several recommended software for editing, will have to learn. All 3 camers 4 spare batteries cases & a number of mounting attachments, for less than the cost of 1 GoPro or Vib! My buddies Pinto & gsxrpilot may not talk to me though....
  14. I have the Garmin G500 / GTN package with the 88, but find the winds aloft much easier and better defined on my IPad with FlyQ. I use the Clarity SV as backup ADS-B / AHARS. The G500 is most excellent to calculate accurate TAS & the actual wind component during flight!
  15. Sweet... I hear you as I frequently travel El Paso to Dallas.... Usually good going and pay for it returning! Last week 230TAS level @ 16.8 gph @ FL11 going 175 TAS returning... Same power settings.... Never much issues with CHT my limiting factor has been TIT running LOP. TAS calculated by Garmin G500 not a WAG!
  16. Ok I'm in lets race!
  17. I believe your right my bad... Assuming your plane governor is setup correctly simply firewall all three knobs! I have all but MP set before I pull onto active runway, then ease throttle in gradually all the way to 33GPH at take off. I've flown multiple times up to FL21 22 & 23 no issues. Don't recall ever hitting FL24. Fly safe all
  18. We are scheduled to get in Wednesday afternoon the 22nd.
  19. Hey Ned & Ute. Thanks for stopping by! Looking forward to seeing you both soon in Madison for the Mooney to Oshkosh Caravan!!
  20. We (the four of us and our 2 Mooney's) are scheduled to depart Saturday morning. If there is any chance you get there before we are gone give me a call well see about meeting. Fly safe, thanks for the info.
  21. Would be very surprised if anything is wrong with #6. Because of this thread I'm going to fly at FL23 or FL25 from 5T6 to Houston next week I'll let you know the results. I would recommend you take off and climb at full MP 2700 full RPM full rich, cowl flaps full open all the way to FL24 or if you prefer dial back to 2500 or 2500, after that don't adjust your power settings. I'm betting you go all way with no heating issues. Do make sure you put on and check your mask on the ground it takes me less than 20 min to hit FL20 on cool spring days.
  22. Sounds like Thursday Night Silver Wings is shaping up to be the place to be!!! What time?
  23. Ok Clearance, I'll bite how fast can you GO?
