You can easily adjust the squelch settings yourself as I recall. Get into setup mode when powering up and adjust. I've done it a few times but not recent enough to recall precise instructions. I did not notice any difference in my distance capabilities and I made a number of changes to the squelch threshold -

I think you know all about my 750 issues, the 650 solid as a rock since new. I can get my new 750 to break squelch on some frequenceys in the 122 range if I am using one perticular cigerate lighter USB power adapter. If I remove the USB cable from the adapter (which I have multiple permanant... well plugged in always for my (IPad, Clarity SV, Phone) the squelch clears up. Again only with one of the cheap 12 vdc to usb power adaptrers the 2 better quality units I have seem to not have any problems. Hope any of this helps in any way! Keep us posted, but if your other radio is having issues would seem to me there might be something else that could be causing radio frequency interferance. Just a wild guess on my part. -

oh by the way she has a ladies team competing right now in a Mooney.... I have another pilot friend who introduced us and she found out I fly a Mooney, she asked and I had the oppertunity to reach out to some of my Mooney friends and share some infomratoion about setup for a Mooney (mainly what Jetdriven & Becca told me) as I really dont have any expertise about racing a Mooney....but i know some that do... thanks to MS! -

Her bio is out of this world. But above all a great person. -

I'm sorry, but I did not order TOAST!
RocketAviator replied to Bob's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
So sorry to hear your story but more glad to hear your alright. Thank God you did not take off into IMC with those oil lIne issues. If anything good I came away fron these posts with several good points for anytime ANYONE works on my plane! -
Last trip to San Antonio from El Paso we hit 288kts ground speeds with a 46kt tail wind @FL23 Fastest ground speed I have achieved.
-
I have flown my Rocket up to FL24. I Prefer higher altitudes when possible. Usually better weather and a lot less traffic most MOA I pass straight through. I climb at typically VS 1000 to 800 ft min depdepending load temp etc. I have never owned a non turbo so really no comparison. Fly safe

i too keep a running list of Mooney's in a spreadsheet i keep with me when I fly. Have some 60 Mooneys that i have ran accross or know on MS or flown a formation flight clinic or the Mooney Caravan or have stopped by 5T6 and stayed with us. Have had over 11 Mooniacs stay or been guests in our home over the past couple years on thier way to somewhere and met even more. Several from here on MS. 2 weeks or so ago Mooneychief, couple months before that stinkbug, Yves & wife, Ed & wife, Yoda & wife, Pinto, Sandman, CFII, Jim Peace, Cowboy, N9207A, and many others... i know there are several i missed but you get the idea... This group of Mooniacs have been such a blessing to meet and get to know! Any Mooniac in the area of 5T6 / El Paso let me know and if anyway possible we'll meet up! Fly safe all -

Tony I may have a copilot, not sure. If your willing to come in all the was from South Africa I'm willing to bet we can find you a seat somewhere in the Caravan. Note Caravan is from Maddison. PM me if your serious and I'll get to work on seeing what we can work out. You can for sure ride in my plane, just may not be in right seat. Let me know. -

Do u have the G500 with VS and Alt preselects Those functions changed on my panel I like the old functions much better.... -
I had same issue rebuilt with 2 zip ties, black permanent marker and epoxy. Can not tell they are not original, light shows through them same as factory units. Calibration was easy as I had the old broken parts and inserted the new ones with paper jig to same height. Had to cut out and remove a small piece of console. In order to remove the indicator housing. Used owner produced cover, but could have used the piece I cut out if I'd had a backing plate, took about 5 hours total. Let me know if you like I'll try and take some picture. Good luck.

So sorry to hear. I have a set if Collins I took out of my Saratoga I'll send you if that will help. Do u have a hand held WITH a connection to your ship antenna? If not may be a good idea! I have one never had to use it but I check it a couple times a year just to make sure and it works very well hooked to ships antenna -
Somewhat of an educated guess. Cover one of the antennas completely with not one but two layers of heavy duty aluminum foil then tape down the edges with a good duct tape. Warning the rape can damage paint I'm told. Go fly if necessary or i believe it will also test on the ground. One should work as before the other will have none or very bad reception. Let me know how it works.

Chris, As you may recall I had 3 GTN 750's changed out. My 650 has been solid as a rock since day one. 2 of the 3 750 had squelch breaks issues. I tried every update and the default Squelch threshold adjustment from Factory 0 to the highest setting which I don't recall what it was. We tried the Garmin suggested setting of 75, that did help but did not solve the issue. I got very angry with Garmin and had some very heated conversations with my avionics shop and Garmin directly. The first swap was a bit more than a challenge as I had to prove it was their unit... had all the coax replaced with the high$ special coax they say is required and all kinds of things I spent a small fortune on!!!! Then I finally videoed the event multiple times and took the Avionics shop on a ride to show him! He was always a supporter just to set the record straight. He then got with Garmin and after 2 more units I have not had a single issue with this 750. Never an issue with the 650. teejayevans is correct it can as I have seen 3 GTN give squelch breaks when a device is plugged into the cigarette lighter. I had the issue myself when using a cheap unit. Got one from Dominic that owns Mygoflight.com that I ran into at Oshkosh. By the way they participate as a sponsor and provide give always for the Caravan, but i digress! Bottom line some devices plugged in can and do cause some issues but never have with my GTN650.... Solid as a rock! I fully believe Garmin does know they have an issue, just wont talk about it or admit it. That is what irritated me most. I realize all companies have issues with products from time to time, I know the world of certified aircraft components are supposed to be as immune to those type of things as possible but issues do and will occur. That is tolerable to me, not admitting they have a problem is inexcusable to me! Wish you the best and hope you don't have to go through what I went through. PS Garmin was having issues with the weather and traffic being displayed on the G500, so in advance of the purchase I required and received in writing when I purchased that the unit would provide weather and traffic on the G500 and if it didnt for any reason Garmin would provide it to me at no charge when it came out. They agreed and when this last upgrade came along they honored the agreement! Even included the larger Supplemental Data SD card required to operate with the update. -
Also again don't know if it is different with a 530 or 430 but I also had to have Garmin provide me another Supplemental Data SD Card as the original SD Card was too small to hold the new data required. Also just FYI ANY card I have tried and used up to 32GB cards in every slot in the G500 and the GTN 750 and 650. I understand that the Store bought cards may not be legal because they don't carry the TSO legal requirements necessary except for use in the NAV data (top slot) of the G500 where Garmin said I could use any card I wanted. I have had two Supplemental Data cards go bad so far. Garmin replaced both but it was after the wrestling match and quite some time. My avionics shop got involved and his Garmin rep stepped up and did the right thing with 2 new cards. The new card for the G500 is now 3GB vs 2 GB, while the new GTN 750 is 8GB I believe. The only difference on the label is the copyright date. PS Garmin is the one that told me ANY card would work and gave me the instructions on how to format and use it! I now carry the original in service in the avionics, one original set left at home and one Store bought for emergency backup use in the plane with my enable cards. Fly safe all
