  1. OrangeMTL is the old owner, the new owner of 730ML lives in McKinney, Tx now. Very easy to spot, very nice plane (Kevin, got your ears on?)
  2. Congrats Angelos!
  3. Yesterday, another ki258 bites the dust, less than 10 hrs on an overhaul. This time vfr. Thankfully, the "non primary" Aspen was on board. Please rethink serious ifr (all ifr is serious) with only a "fine Swiss watch" ki25x IA and no backup.
  4. Depends on what you are looking for. YOu could call up Richard Simile who will give you a demo flight in the lt. seat, and then you can sign the papers and fly it home! Same with Jimmy Garrison, and he will have vintage birds. As Paul said, getting insurance for instruction on say a Bravo with a hull value of $225K would not make fiscal sense for the mooney specific instructors. I know of a clapped out C in Venice for rent, and a J in Ocala at the schools there, and there might be others. These certainly wont represent what you would want to own, however.
  5. David, just give me a ring! I should be around the Silverwings cabin as I volunteer to help them every year (driving friends around in a golf cart ), or at the SAFE booth, or doing a FAAsteam presentation, or harassing Dirk Vanderzee or Richard Simile at the Mooney Booth
  6. Thanks Deb, I was wondering what Rip would say about it since the stall AOA is different in ea. configuration. One would conclude a wing will stall at a higher angle of attack without flaps from Rips statement, thus if wanting to know the best rate of climb, it would be nice to have the info available on the AOA for the given weight like I mainly use it for and a calibrated display for flaps up would be required. For the CYA to do this, it would most likely require a change of display for this added capability. I am not trying to say which is a better device here, Bob. I selected the Aspen because of the cost to me, $0 it was thrown in, and the installation, which was a half hour unlock and firmware update plus an hour fun flight, and nothing extra hanging in the breeze to bust. Aspen defends their lack of audible feature with the "its not really needed" spin also. To me, I don't really care for it, but to others, the audible is important.
  7. Ah, they just now issued one for down there..I take it you wont be going to the rally then. Issue Date : February 15, 2017 at 2054 UTC Location : Palm Beach, Florida Beginning Date and Time : February 17, 2017 at 1930 UTC Ending Date and Time : February 21, 2017 at 0330 UTC Reason for NOTAM : Temporary flight restrictions for VIP Movement Type : VIP Replaced NOTAM(s) : N/A Jump To: Affected Areas Operating Restrictions and Requirements Other Information
  8. Per flying Phil, it does matter if the AOA doesn't take flap and gear position into account when calibrated. Go to the 3 min mark here. Phil wouldn't BS us now, would he Bob?
  9. When you calibrated the CYA, it was calibrated for the configuration the plane was in, (flaps down most likely) but not for flaps up, which will be a different stall speed(s) at different weights. Flaps down is correct to nail the slowest possible speeds for landing safely. I personally use mine more for best rate of climb
  10. Just don't go up north to Vero Beach from 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM and you should be fine on Saturday.
  11. I thought ea. wing had an inboard and outboard on the F. Can you eliminate one with your senders after you get the STC?
  12. Like I said TJ, I really don't miss it. A lot of people here say it is important, however. ut cuique sua
  13. The one I have on the Aspen is about the same size as your display Bob, only right next to the ASI tape just a couple inches lower and to the right. As you say, very easy to see there, one place to glance when not looking outside for both info. The aspen AOA has 2 pointers, one for flaps up one for flaps down as it is calibrated for both conditions, which is a nice feature vs the other AOA's. One thing it doesn't have, but I really don't miss, is bitchin betty yelling "stall Stall STALL"
  14. too bad you cant stretch it out until April, when SNF is happening, Jeff. Jeppesen usually has a "deal" there that would make their product in line price wise with Garmin, and would have all the bennies of things like all the airports. Garmin may well have a "deal" also. We will see about getting a Jepp Pilot pack again for the silent auction at the Mooney Summit V, as it was a high interest item and one you won a couple of years ago. Thanks Jepp for the generous donation and thanks Garmin for the D2 watches Ken Yale and Andrew won!
  15. If anyone wants to run "point" to get a group buy on the "right" CO detector, I imagine they would have the gratitude of a number of us! Ill see if I can get one to be donated as a door prize for the Mooney Summit V in the mean time.
  16. Ill put the drawings for the seat rail mod and a completed 337 I received from the late great Yuri Avrutin about 17 years ago in the download section
  17. Here is what appears to be the same one, only still available https://smile.amazon.com/KKmoon-Portable-Concentration-Detector-Sound-light/dp/B01AUMOBU2/ref=pd_sim_60_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01AUMOBU2&pd_rd_r=S3BXDX4MWG8H75SK6D28&pd_rd_w=ndtjd&pd_rd_wg=Z1Djj&psc=1&refRID=S3BXDX4MWG8H75SK6D28
  18. Darned...you had me fooled for a moment....
  19. The F, J and the K's are the same fuselage length. If you can fly a 252 without a seat rail mod, you should be able to fly an F without the mod, unless Mooney made a mod to the seat rails by adding an extra hole somewhere along the line.
  20. Blackcloud (AKA Henry) wasn't that Slim's old Encore?
  21. Great find! I think Mooney wants something like 2K to replace the entire board.
  22. Mooneyspacers, Do consider ordering from smile.amazon.com and naming the Mooney Summit as your charity. So far, we have received $58 in contributions from them (mostly from my son and my purchases). just replace the www. with smile and you can select a charity, and 1/2 of 1% will be given to that charity quarterly of your amazon purchases. Here is PaulM's link that will invoke the charitable contribution by Mr Bezos. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EMXSIR2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  23. I should be there all week, Jolie
  24. Dan has been asked and has accepted to be on a panel at the Mooney Summit V of Mooney accident survivors to recount his experience and field questions from our attendees. If anyone else would like to join Dan and I to share their experience, please let me know (Neil, Jolie, got your ears on?). This seminar will most likely be followed by a seminar from Major Mari (Mars) Metzler, flight examiner for our F22 boys at Tindall on CO poisoning.
  25. yea, there is a fairly expensive relay board that may need attention, unfortunately.
