  1. Past hour
  2. Is that being assholes and having egos our butts can't cash
  3. Today
  4. Well, we are all part of an elite group of Mooney pilots. They all have the same characteristics and we go faster than the other guys. When I see others at an airport , I feel a connection and I am glad to see them. Whether an older or newer Mooney , still better than the others Alan
  5. Yes, we did. I'm still in Alabama. That was while working on an ultimately successful project from hell, but we got into production on time, and the launch was very successful. Us C owners have to stick together!
  6. Yeah. Now that you mention it, they had that same line in their previous solicitation that was posted here. Wouldn’t a PPM investment result in a private equity position?
  7. I need this, my J needs left rudder while cruising to stay coordinated, but then banks left pretty quickly, but I'm on the west coast...
  8. It's the coast's way
  9. The right side switches in your photo. I have a couple of rocker switches on my panel that don't stay open or closed. Cost?
  10. Thanks much @Flyler Tyler for the compliments! It’s a pleasure working and flying with you. @Hank….we had dinner at KHFD many, many moons ago….if I remember correctly.
  11. Can't blame 'em for making sure they lose Other People's Money
  12. I just noticed the LASAR ad in the current Mooney Flyer https://themooneyflyer.com/issues/2025-NovTMF.pdf. Apparently they are trying to raise money through a private placement offering.
  13. 3 hour flight today, some wind gusts, AP did fairly well, does a slight s-turn laterally in GPSS mode so may need some adjustments, GPS gain or lateral activity. Getting very comfortable with the AP, practiced a lot of heading mode to gpss etc. worked with vectors from ATC, lining up for approaches . Was fun! Need the shop to check the panel light - those are not coming on for night flying… should be simple fix… -Don
  14. Very sad end for a new Mooney owner. Hopefully we will some day learn what was the cause of this tragic event, the various conjectures published here and elsequere notwithstanding. It is possible that the fuel system issues discussed on MS forum earlier were nt resplved and may have been the cause of this accident, but it is also possible that some other factors were involved. Too early to tell with any reasonable degree of certainty, but celarly the absence of facts will not prevent various "experts" from publishing conjectures and speculations.
  15. Hello, I am looking to purchase a Best Tug Romeo 8 or an AC Air Tech brand remote control tug. I need something that will handle 6,000 lb. Level, less than 1% grade, smooth concrete. No door tracks to contend with. I can pay cash and can arrange for pick up just about anywhere in the lower 48. Thanks, Frank
  16. That's exactly how it's supposed to be done. Too many start bending metal as a quick fix. But the SMM is clear; set it up according to the manual and then tweak the aileron trailing edges as a final adjustment if necessary. It doesn't take much. These airplanes all flew straight when they left the factory. It's people messing with them without knowing what the are doing that get them all messed up.
  17. I once asked RBC and they responded MIL-PRF-81322 grease. Kind of hard to apply to rod ends without zerk fittings. My M20J SMM says Tri-Flow and that's what I use. It is less oily that LPS-2 and should attract less dirt.
  18. An oil cooler shouldn't care about flow direction -- it's just a radiator. Common practice is to supply oil to the bottom in order to purge air.
  19. He is local to KOXC and it is indeed takair.
  20. You neglected to mention the location, so that the rest of us can enjoy straight-flying Mooneys . . . .
  21. Actually, at that point I suspect YOU and @Alan Maurer will finally understand usurious prices! Or, if you are rich enough, I guess you'll still "be very happy that they will continue to support Mooney airplanes."
  22. TL;DR: the plane flies straight. I'm sure many of you know Flight Enhancements as the maker of the electric step conversion, and some other nifty items. I have flown in the owners plane with the "Auto Lean" and it is amazing. This is a review of Rob as an A&P, and particularly his skills at rigging my 79 J model. This man knows his Mooneys. I took delivery of a beautiful 201 and while it flew straight enough, it didn't *look straight*. The left side flap was hanging a bit low, and both ailerons were "drooping" down quite a bit. We looked in the manual and it states between 0 and 2 degrees downward is the appropriate range. Rob helped to adjust the ailerons and flaps so they looked proper, and followed the book properly as well. We took it up for a flight. A slight pull to the left. We made another adjustment. Now a very very slight pull to the left and required a little rudder correction. We landed and Rob said, while my face was glowing with happiness about my new plane, "you might want to hop into the FBO for a minute" and he pulled out a pair of pliers and custom made tool. "Oh my god, no" I said and ran away. The final tweaks require slight bending of the trailing edge of the control surfaces and I couldn't watch. I just bought this plane! He finished up, and the sun went down. Next time we went up for a flight, I had almost forgotten about the rigging. Why? Because the plane flew perfectly straight and called no attention to it! Best part is, he didn't have to take the dreadful pliers to the plane again The straight facts are: Rob Takacs is honest, intelligent, well-skilled and a real Mooney pro. He is a true mentor when it comes to his CFI duties but that is a post for another day. And probably too sappy.
  23. I use Tri-Flow on all of my rod ends. And “general purpose oil” on all of my control surface bolts.
