I suspect it’s about the Jepp connection. FF’s offering is a chart enhancement, rather than a chart replacement. GP’s SmartCharts are a chart replacement. Garmin is pretty clear about that. No such “basic legal text.”

1984 Mooney M20K TSIO-360-LB oil leak/loss of oil pressure
Z W replied to Logwes21's topic in General Mooney Talk
There are many places it could have sprung a leak. I would expect a thorough wash down, followed by a run-up with the cowl off, will let you find it. Good time to check the date of manufacture on your oil hoses. There are quite a few running to the oil cooler, turbocharger, check valves, and wastegate. They should have been changed with your engine overhaul. Otherwise some recommend changing them every 10 years, but it's an often-missed maintenance item. -

Yes it looks like that Whelen HDACF is only powering your wingtip strobe lights. Also attached is how your wing can look with it converted to LED. The position/anti-collision light is called the Orion 650E and then I have an LED recognition light that will replace that halogen lamp. That halogen lamp if left on while operating on the ground will melt your lenses.
-
@IvanP there are several options but the preferred light to be installed through a minor alteration is the Whelen Orion 650E. Other candidates that will work are the Pulsar 650, which carries a wide range STC, and the straight Whelen Orion 650. The Orion 650E is preferred because its LED anti-collision light provides 90 degrees of coverage while the Pulsar 650 and straight Whelen Orion 650 provide 180 degrees of anti-collision light coverage. The wing structure will blank that out. https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/WAT-14V-Red-6501RE-Wingtip-Light_p_168.html <-- Left wing Orion 650E https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/AeroLEDs-12V-Red-Pulsar-650-Wingtip-Light_p_504.html <-- Left wing Pulsar 650 https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/WAT-14V-Red-6501R-Wingtip-Light_p_166.html <-- Left wing Orion 650

And today, for the first time ever, whether paid supporter or not, a popup ad on every tap. I like the spam better and am becoming a wee bit cynical. -

I am involved in many online forums, and I have even been a moderator in a few. This is common amongst all of them, especially so with the high-end gun forums. They tend to come in waves and creep up periodically every year. Just when you think you've weeded them all out, they come up with other tactics to infiltrate once again; sadly, it's a revolving door. -
We deal with this in other forums; valid, legit accounts get hacked. Rarely is it a long-standing member who goes rogue; it's usually that long-standing member's account is now being run by someone else, and they use it to their advantage.

No fuel should make it past the combustion chamber into the exhaust if the ignition system is functioning. So I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. I’ve seen carbureted engines “backfire” on start up when an over primed engine has spark introduced. I have seen carbureted and injected engines have “afterfire” after multiple failed start attempts have pumped the exhaust system full of a combustible mixture of fuel and air. What I have never seen is an engine that is pumping air while windmilling at 2500 RPM with hot mags, do either of those things. Perhaps you can elaborate on how Such a thing happens?
-
When you re-introduce fuel of course. If you do so reflexively without first reducing power and mixture to idle. The startle effect could easily cause one to do so.

I’ve been wondering what this means for those of us in the serial number range that’s eligible for the 2900# AFM supplement. Our aircraft have the same type certificate at 2740 as at 2900, but the vs0 numbers are critically different in the flight manual (see chart below). I assume an aircraft that doesn’t have the AFM supplement is under the vs1 limit, but an aircraft *with* the AFM supplement is over the limit. There’s no STC, so it’s really just whether you have the supplement stuck in your flight manual or not. I’m not sure whether it’s possible to reverse compliance with a service letter? Can you write a logbook entry that says “uncomplied with SL92-1 and SB M20-252?”

No, not yet. I have 2 people interested so hopefully it works out.

FS: BatteryMINDer Charger Sale through 8.31.25

I think that if you ever were leaving it out it would be better through one of the filler doors. Otherwise in the baggage area is often easier. -
Looks way better on the iPad too

Seemed good to me, saying sure the chart for official use seems basic legal text

Annuals between 3-5k. Maintenance bills dependent on so any things - age of engine/ accessories (panel, TKS etc) and of course the way you fly the engine. This year my unscheduled maintenance costs have been around 12k - Less so last year.

IceM started following Avg Annual Costs on Ovation 2

Ouch! if i setup an approach, i can see all the dynamic procedure info, IF i expand the approach - poof, dynamic procedure is gone!
-
Looking into buying an Ovation 2. Assuming there aren't any major squawks found... what does your average annual inspection cost? And then, assuming you do need some stuff addressed, what have your total bills run in those non-average years?
-
Is there a particular malfunction you are trying to manage? Or, is this just a fear you have? I’ve been flying for 6000 hours over 45 years and have not had a fuel problem yet. I could just be lucky…

Garmin is like a iPhone, their logic is pretty much the same throughout the line of products.

Thanks for posting! I closed on a 79 J a few months ago and am waiting eagerly to take her home from the shop. Yours looks like a nice plane and I'm sure you'll find a great buyer for that beauty.

1984 Mooney M20K TSIO-360-LB oil leak/loss of oil pressure
rklems replied to Logwes21's topic in General Mooney Talk
Loose oil filter, cracked oil cooler, and both turbo check valves and the hoses are also potential sources of high volume oil leaks in that area. -
@cliffy, you have a request for info! -Don
