  1. Past hour
  2. Looking for ovation exhaust brackets. LASAR did not have any. Any ideas?
  3. Correct but it is ultimately up to the installing mechanic to determine if it is a major or minor alteration to the aircraft. If the mechanic deems it to be a major alteration then a field approval or an STC needs to be filed by an A&P/IA. Most people I work with do this as a minor alteration if there is no STC for the light but every now and then I run into a mechanic or shop that insists that it is a major alteration. Cirrus owners and shops are most problematic with this.
  4. I've asked WAT about this previously. It is the FAA's opinion that TSO part exchanged for "functionally similar" TSO part (reference attached AC-2041a) = minor alteration. This path is taken frequently without issue. Also attached FAA/TSO Letters to assist. OR500 TSO Authorization Letter Aug 23 2013 copy.pdf AC 20-41A.pdf 90701 OR650E( ) TSO Approval Letter Nov_25_2013 copy.pdf
  5. Correct, and it never will be with the Whelen Orion 650E. Owners who are having it installed are doing it as a minor alteration with a logbook entry by an A&P mechanic. If you feel that an STC is necessary to convert to LED, the AeroLEDs Pulsar 650 is covered by an STC for the J model (see attached). I carry those lights too. Part-23-STC-AML-SA04837NY.pdf
  6. Your title,"Volts dropping mid flight on my 201 from 85 - 14v" is still confusing at first glance. It sounds like your "volts" are dropping from 85 to 14. You might consider "Volts dropping mid flight on my 1985 201 (14v)" or something like that.
  7. When I looked earlier this year, the J is not covered under the STC for the LED.
  8. The 48110 is used on the Lycoming engine on the Bravo. If you have enough room on your Continental the 48109 is bigger and has more filtering material, but the smaller 48108 is also approved.
  9. I have new BatteryMINDer chargers that are on sale through August 31st of this month or until inventory runs out. Once the inventory is out, they will not be on sale. They are regularly $299.95 but are discounted to $247.50. The aviation battery specific line of BatteryMINDer® battery chargers-maintainers-desulfators are the most advanced ever produced. In addition to charging and maintaining the indicated aviation batteries, users can now determine the level of charge remaining in their battery, and if weak and in need of replacement, before going bad. Units test for weak/dead cells and will recover weak or severely discharged batteries that other chargers would reject. Known as the CEC2-AA series they feature advancements in easy to understand battery analysis and condition not previously available in any other single model. Their high efficiency design, controlled by industrially-rated microprocessors, allow continuous operation (24 hrs./day) for less than $0.43/month*. Temperature sensors prevents over/under charging from freezing to 130-F. https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/BatteryMINDer_c_217.html <-- Link to website gallagheraviationllc@gmail.com <-- Email me 1-833-425-5288 <-- Call/Text, please leave a voicemail if I do not answer 513-401-6495 <-- Call/Text/MMS, please leave a voicemail if I do not answer

  11. Today
  12. That’s what I would use.
  13. I'm bringing this back from the dead. The seal on my M20J is starting to leak. About 5 years and ~500 hours after overhaul. Is the general consensus that the one-piece (LW-13792) or the Superior equivalent (SL13792) seal still the way to go?
  14. Strobes don’t get hot enough to melt the lens - at least on my 1994MSE that uses A610. @OSUAV8TER sells them.
  15. The interior is out and I've started to repair the plastic. The last person who worked on it loved epoxy and metal to fix things, especially on the overhead console. There was a 1/4 inch or more of epoxy. I've removed the metal and ground down the epoxy so that proper fix can be done and I'm going to start on the overhead console this weekend. If I can salvage that, I'm hoping to limit what I need to order from Vantage. I did a couple of test with other parts and it appears that ABS cement and cloth works wonders. I'll use EZ sand and follow the Jeager process to complete the project. I've enjoyed having interior out because I can really look around. The list @1980Mooney shared was completed yesterday (except for replacing the fuel line). I also had my IA look at things for SB208. It appears it had been completed before including new insulation; I did not recall that in the log which matches handwritten notes that I found earlier this year. The seats will be redone in Lexus leather, with flame certs, by a local upholstery shop. I think I have the carpet selected, they just need to ensure that it will also have flame certs before I order it. I'd prefer to find a local place for the trim that goes around the windows so that I can see the color first hand. One of my remaining items to figure out is the fabric for the speaker covers.
  16. I almost got to try it today going into Medford, but I was coming from the north and they were using runway 32 and I couldn’t talk them into the ILS 14 with a circle to land. Millionair at KMFR is great. They got me a great rate on the nearby Courtyard hotel and gave me a lift over here.
  17. I’m not very scientific about it. I assume that if my draggy, box stock, F model, will break 150kts, LOP into a headwind…in July…in the mid Atlantic, then the engine is healthy.
  18. At the following link, scroll down to item 8f below the video, which has the proof of loss statement https://sccgov.iqm2.com/Citizens/SplitView.aspx?Mode=Video&MeetingID=16468&MinutesID=10778&Format=Minutes&MediaFileFormat=mp4
  19. one guy really got me last year, when I asked him to send pictures he said he was getting chemo, I felt sorry, he asked for paypal friends and family, I did paypal business transaction what saved me, got full refund from paypal within 2 weeks, definitely ask for pictures, talk on the phone, use paypal for business transactions
  20. Or you could go LED and eliminate the risk of melting the cover by leaving the strobes on . . .
  21. Actually, I'm not sure you understand this situation fully. If you read the FAA's part 16 director's determination, you will see that this specific case is different. The county took over all fueling under their so called 'proprietary exclusive right' in order to stop the sale and distribution of 100LL. They did not allow anyone else to sell 100LL because all others had to buy fuel from them and they only sold unleaded fuel. The FAA determined they could not do that. This is totally different than a private gas station that chooses what to sell. There are several FAA cases like this and in fact another one discusses this exact issue for mogas. An airport sponsor does not have to provide all fuels. It just cannot prevent others from providing those fuels if they are federally obligated.
  22. 1990 M20J MSE and it's a A610 for me. My left side strobe is much dimmer than right so will need to replace soon. Aircraft Spruce has them.
  23. The 610M is the same thing but with a molex connector (likely what you need). But I have seen 'teardrop' and 'oval' shaped lenses. Aerodon
  24. Interesting. Sounds like a positive development in unleaded avgas area. Hope to see more info soon.
  25. Delay tactics are commonly used by parties litigating on the losing side of the argument. I think that SC county folks have a reason to believe the jig is up and thus they will use any available stall tactics to delay the final adjudication of the matter.
  26. In short, the county filed an appeal and a corrective action plan. The corrective action plan has not been published and they continually say that they are making good progress. The latest update talks about them putting the appeal into abeyance and are supposedly working in 'good faith'. The entire public docket for the Part 16 complaint is here. You'll find the latest update from the FAA where they grant the appeal being put into an abeyance and the 3rd document down is from AOPA questioning all the delays. During the commission meeting this past week that Gabe posted the video link to, county's counsel updated the commission on their status with nothing more than a basic report of 'they are having good discussions with the FAA'. Frustrating. To me, it just seems that the county likes to use delay tactics and excuses to drag things out. Michael
  27. @mluvara Do you know if the County has appealed the FAA Determination of Grant Violation on counts 1 through 4? (IIRC they had 30 days...and we are long past that)
