Oh boy - I've just picked up my Ovation after a few long weeks of separation as my 550-G was replaced with a 550-N, and my 3-blade McCauley was swapped for a new Hartzell scimitar top prop under the 310 HP Midwest Mooney STC by the good folks at Cavalier Aviation in Calgary. I also went in for an Aspen MFD.

Performance on the take-off roll is noticeably snappier - even at CYBW's 4000'. I was off in less than 2000', and climb to 10,000 was easily 1000 fpm at 2700 rpm. Fuel burn was about 2 gpm more than the 550-G at 2500 rpm, but I'll take the extra performance.

That sounds awesome! So if you run it at 2500 instead of 2700 RPM, do you see any difference in fuel flow and performance, or do you retain the same performance as previous if you run it the same as previous?

Does your Ovation make a screaming hawk or eagle like sound now? Just curious! Maybe you can add one for sound effect to announce your taxi to the runway. Paint a screaming eagle on the tail would be cool as well :-)

The Mooney factory started modifying the Ovations with the RPM increase and Top Prop that produced the 310 HP

straight off the assembly line and called them Ovation 3.

Just back from a nice little run to the 60th parallel and back. It's 'by the book' below 2500 - standard Ovation fuel flows and performance. You could, if so inclined, dial it way back for endurance purposes. I'm finding it a quite acceptable compromise up high (>10k) getting 180-ish with 17 gph ROP fuel flows, vs 160-ish at 14.5. Gallon per mile values are pretty close in cruise, but it's way faster on the way up.

Got to get the O3 decal to go with the engine and prop....

This was Cris' idea, but I'm starting to like it!

I'm having the decals made & will send them along to you next week.
