Obersteg Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Hi my Magnaflite M-6222 starter on my M20F 1976 (Lyc. IO-360-A1A) needs to be replaced. I think that the Sky-Tec 149-NL http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/inlinelycoming.php would be a good choice. Is there someone with a F-model who can confirm this. The shape of the front of the 149-NL is quite different to the Magnaflite or Prestolite. What happens with the baffle in this area ? best regards from Germany Alexander Quote
GeorgePerry Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 I use the skytek149-12LS on my M20F. I think the 149 NL is also compatible, but your best bet is call skytek to double check compatibility with your paticular model (both aircraft and engine) Quote
georgeb Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 I replaced my prestolite a couple of years ago with a skytek. I've got a '70 'E'. You'll love it once it's installed. The key word here is installed. It is a royal PITA to replace. Lower cowl has to come off and that is no small chore on our beloved vintage mooneys. You'll also have to replace the power cable as the skytek needs a longer one. Like I said, they're great starters, but unfortunately take quite a bit of labor to install. George PS, I believe I have the 149NL. I'll check for sure and update this post. George Quote
georgeb Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 As promised, Finally got around to verifying that I did indeed install the 149nl George Quote
