Skybrd Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 I've noticed a possible quirk while running LOP. When I run LOP and fly straight and level things seem to be stable and engine runs fine. When I do turns the engine sometimes does a hiccup. Is there something about changing engine directional attitude that will cause this. Have any of you noticed this. I usually enrich the mixture quickly when the hiccup occurs. Quote
Bolter Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 I do not have this experience with LOP. As an outside the box concept, when you roll, you change the torque on the motor slightly and momentarily as you are rolling with or against the prop. Maybe your governor does react quick enough and you are getting a tiny little speed change, and your LOP gets out of whack for just a second. That was as clever as I could get. :-) -dan Quote
garytex Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 In carb engines the fuel-air charges will be affected by inertia and G-loading. Have you ever noticed the air in a car roll around in a turn--same thing Quote
