MountainGoat Posted Wednesday at 12:52 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 12:52 AM I need to get my M20J propeller from me (after picking up from a shop in Canada) to my mechanic about 2.5 hrs away. I'd love to not have to do the 5 hour round trip drive again. The mechanic said I might be able to put it in a sonotube and ship it that way. Looking around online says wooden crates, but also seems to be referencing turboprop propellers shipped internationally. Anyone have any thoughts on putting it (with packing material) in a sonotube and shipping it? I'm guessing freight companies will want too much money to be worth it anyway, but I figure, considering the cost of gas, if I can get materials and shipping for $250 might be worth it. I'll also think about shipping from the shop, but it's only just over an hour away so picking it up would probably be easier than dealing with international freight thanks,
Slick Nick Posted Wednesday at 02:50 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:50 AM I just did this same thing two weeks ago with my McCauley C214. Just strap it to a pallet and pick it up with your truck. It will fit into an SUV if you fold the seats down and don’t have a truck. Shipping a propeller properly is insanely expensive transborder. Cheapest I found was about $1200. One way.
