The basics are easily picked up by practice and reading the manual. The training class is mostly around using the GTNs for IFR with a compatible PFD and GFC. They go through various IFR scenarios. GTN is a powerful system. There’s online version as well for those who don’t want to do the in-person class. The in-person training asks you to complete the online course prior to class. It is a little like drinking from a firehose. I would like them to do a longer (maybe 3 day) or offer an advanced class. But I am considering repeating it. I did it about 3 weeks before my plane was done. Now that I am coming up on 100 hours with the panel, a refresher would be nice.
