What is process to get ground radio transmissions retrospectively?

The link above already mentions this, but just to note here … LiveATC keeps audio recordings for a pretty short period. They have an online archive going back 30 days, and an offline archive going back a year. After that, you’re out of luck.

Other thought was if you have a GTN it stores radio transmissions for playback. Edit: I have a GTN with GMA35 that you can pull up audio and then playback.

Some comm panels also store ATC transmissions, like PS Engineering’s PMA 8000 series.

Comm panels only store the last couple of things received, and not the transmissions.  And AFAIK, once you turn them off, what was stored was lost.

Not all airports are covered by www.liveatc.net, so if you are trying to save your radio transmissions the best bet would be to record them.  There are a number of adapters out there from Sporty's or other sources that will allow you to plug a Digital Recorder into the Intercom system.  Or, you can get an adapter to plug in between your headset and the plane's jacks if you do not have an Intercom.  You do not need to set the recorder to the highest quality since you are only recording voice, but don't go to the bottom either as aviation transmissions are not always the clearest.  But setting to a lower quality will greatly increase your recording time.

The other option would be to load a GoPro or other digital camera to record the panel and the radios.  Then you would be able to go back and see all the info on the panel as well as hearing what was going on.  A lot of people have cameras all over the plane to get people, outside, the panel, etc., etc.  But if you just want a historical record, one camera mounted so it can get a full view of the panel is all you need.  Be careful of showing the window as the camera will probably adjust for the bright outside and you may not be able to see what's on the panel clearly.

One last question.  Do you put the time in as straight or do you have to add the differnce?  Example: I am on central standard time.  Do I put in the actual time or do I have to compute (add the time to get to UTC for time i want)?

Appears to require UTC.
