Looking for a Overnight in western WY/MT or Idaho

I’ve hosted many Mooney Space travelers over the years and not necessarily looking for overnight lodging, but at least a overnight stop on a trip to the Annual LOBO (Lancair Owners & Builders Organization) Convention in Sun River, OR, at our second fuel stop around 9/30, where we could do dinner before heading to a hotel for an overnight.  My wife does not want to do this trip in one day. 
 

As an almost 30 year Mooney owner, and a Lancair Propjet owner working on a rebuild, I might make the visit worthwhile. I  am a couple weeks out of a complete Garmin Glass Panel upgrade on my Rocket, which came out of the shop without a single squawk!!

Let me know if anyone would like to get a dinner on us!

Where are you coming from?  KJAC might be a fun stop, we've always had a great time there. From KJAC to 4S2 should be under 3 hours for you.

Idaho Falls (KIDA) is a great place to stop.  Plenty of things to do in the immediate area.

I recently, well 2 years ago, bought a place in Afton Wyoming (KAFO) at the airpark.  Unfortunately, HOA and work issues have prevented me from building.

Small little town, 2000 people, be good for an overnight.  Not sure about transportation, last time rental car was onerous.  I think if you were an adventurous walker you could get to the hotels in town.

I also flew into West Yellowstone, decent airport with little better services.

View is fantastic at any of them.

I wish I knew the area better.

Last time I flew through there I spent the night in Nampa ID. I stayed at a cheap motel in downtown. Quite a few bars and restaurants in walking distance.

There was a dumpy looking mexican restaurant in the motel. BEST MEXICAN FOOD I have ever had! That's saying a lot from a kid from Phoenix!

My wife and I enjoyed staying few times in Coeur d'Alene, ID as well as Boise if you like a bigger town with more bars and restaurants. I am sure it would be easy to find hotel at Coeur d'Alene once the summer is over so I'd go there... 

I'm sure you'll enjoy sun River as well.

I go to KTOR 1-2x a year.  Nice airport and FBO not much else other than Rocky Mountain oysters and the sugar beet mill.

I have and Evo owner friend in McCall that has asked to host us.  He's going to the same convention a day later than us. It looks like I get to add a new airport to my list.
