tony Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 The end of a legacy...very sad. Kudos to the engineers, technicians, pilots, and factory workers who made this aircraft possible. Quote

flyboy0681 Posted February 4, 2023 Report Posted February 4, 2023 I followed the 747 program since I was a kid in the late 60's and read several books on its development. Hands down, the best one is "747 Creating the Worlds First Jumbo Jet" by the creator himself, Joe Sutter (also the father of the 737). I estimate that I've flown on the 747 two dozen times over the past few decades, but I never got to live my dream of sitting in seat 1A, which (I've heard) gives the passenger an almost straight ahead view due to the tapering of the nose section. I did make a pilgrimage to see Ship One at Boeing Field and wasn't disappointed. Quote
