Trim fitting service bulletin: M20R and M20TN

Mooney issued a SB yesterday on the assembly of the trim fitting. It looks like  the installation of a plate on the trim fitting may have been installed in the improper order. Mooney is saying it should be inspected before the next flight.

Aircraft impacted are M20R # 29-0465 thru 29-0519; M20TN #31-0003 thru 31-0127

...and according to MAPA, this will be issued today as an emergency AD.

I think Trey sad they would petition the FAA for one.

If the filler plate needs to be relocated it would require removal of the tail section and the tail bottom skin. This is a two days job.

Compare the drawings to the photo.  The filler plate in question is a shaped 3 dimensional piece.  The drawing indicates a flat plate.  

It looks to me that the assembly drawing does not match the photo.  It looks like they cannot be assembled the way the drawing indicates.

 

Let me know your thoughts. I must be missing something
