211º Posted October 31, 2022 Report Posted October 31, 2022 Coming out of an annual... During the annual, I didn't fly for about a month. In the past when the plane was down for a month, I felt like the plane was in some type of lockdown and it was excruciatingly long. This time it was an owner-assisted and the meaty part of the annual was done efficiently and quickly. This time, it was I (and my travel schedule) who took a long time to get everything back in place. The difference between being able to be around the Mooney and to look at things in my own hangar versus her being put away in jail in the mechanic's hangar is so very different. Owner-assisted for the win. 4 Quote

Owner-assisted for the win. I’m in he same boat. It’s double edged though. Annual is done but all of the belly panels, several wing panels and the cowl need to be reinstalled. I also went down the rabbit hole of rewrapping and dressing the engine monitor, landing light and generator wiring. Work and family obligations have pulled me away. It will be at least a week until post annual run up and I am the sole reason for the delay. 1 Quote

I look forward to the summation. 1 1 Quote
GeeBee Posted October 31, 2022 Report Posted October 31, 2022 I am retired, so I have more time, but I just completed my annual in 4 days. I opened her up, did all the lubrication and checked it off on the MM manual printed out pages. I pulled the bottom plugs for the compression check. I opened the muffler shroud as well. I knew my nose tire needed replacement and my landing gear warning switch had a bad follower. I had all those parts ready to go a month earlier. I did a little extra and Corrosion X'd areas that are vulnerable to TKS fluid. My IA came in did the inspection, fixed the switch follower as well as compression check and borescope inspection. ELT checked. He did the airframe inspection and I bought lunch. We did the gear swing together after replacing the nose gear tire and tube. He left, I closed her back up, left the cowl off. He came back for a final check of all panels and the engine condition, he helped me with the lower cowl. I finished the top cowl. I have all my SB's and AD's on Excel spread sheet with data including dates performed, how and when next due. It saves time hunting them down in the logs. With the date you can quickly find it in the logs. My IA checks those off against his computer data base service. Done. 5 Quote
