Hello again. My I-CAMY is still in the shop for Avionics, and I have to say, a bit longer than expected.. (5 month)

I just saw the newly done w&b and would like to compare it to other M20J. Would you mind to posting your weight

I mean the weight of your Mooney ;-) We are the Mooney-weight watchers ;-)

205 is likely heavier than 201 with the extra speed mods. Plus MSE's are heavier than 201's as well so they did a gross weight increase on paper to make it have a similar useful load on paper but in reality still heavier.

Seems heavy to me. It's 261lbs heavier than my F model.  @201er, What sort of mods make the 205 that much heavier?  I've never understood the vast differential in weights between models with identical airframe and power plant combinations. +/- 100Lbs I can get my head around.  A  delta of 200Lbs or more seems extreme.

I thought mine was fat at 1845, with fuel cells, Century 41, stormscope, radar altimeter. 81J

But I’m sure mine is calculated, for some reason it seems the older airplanes with lots of calculations when actually put on a scale are significantly heavier than the calculated number.

So the only way to really know is to put it on calibrated scales, and even then you can get caught, our scales at the factory were calibrated every 90 days, once when they went in we had a cell that was off significantly, so when did it go bad? AD to re-weigh everything made in the last three months? From then on I had us weighing a filing cabinet drawer full of lead that weighed like 800 lbs on all three cells, of course never had another bad cell, but only took a couple of minutes.

Then if you look at nearly every airplane ever made as the model matures it gains weight, over time the factory starts strengthening things, installing nicer interiors, even shoulder harness add a little, over time it adds up, death by a thousand cuts.

Speed brakes, wing tips, extra thick glass, etc IIRC is ~26lbs.
Probably heavier alternator (24v), electric cowl flaps, etc
Extra and heavier avionics (backup electric vacuum pump for example).

I can maybe see 100lbs…200 no.
