jimbob Posted September 16, 2022 Report Posted September 16, 2022 Much as it pains me my 1964 Mooney M20e was subjected to a gear up landing. Remarkably little damage (aside from the engine and prop thing) most of which looks like simple replacement of belly panels... perhaps the Lasar skid plate would be good for that? My biggest concern is that, although the wings and flaps were untouched (a beautiful, straight, middle of runway landing... aside from the gear being up) the port side, inboard flap hinge was ground down (see pictures below.) Although I have a complete parts manual on the airplane, I'm not exactly sure what the shape of that entire piece is or how it is attached to the airframe. Any suggestions, related war stories or helpful hints would be appreciated. Thanks! Before: After: The hinge: Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 16, 2022 Report Posted September 16, 2022 Grind the other one to match. Everyone will think it is supposed to be that way. 3 1 Quote

Someone has noted that a particularly sublime phrase in Scripture is, “And it came to pass…” This too will pass, and you will come out on the other side just fine. In the meantime my dad’s words come to mind, “Don’t make any major decisions when you are at either an emotional high or emotional low.” Praying for you, Torrey Quote
carusoam Posted September 17, 2022 Report Posted September 17, 2022 Speak with Dan at Lasar… while ordering the part… Or any other of your favorite MSCs…. My favorite MSC is in Canada… @M20Doc… Best regards, -a- Quote
Guest Posted September 17, 2022 Report Posted September 17, 2022 From the IPC, it appears to be bolted to the inner most wing rib. I’m not really sure what shape it would have had before the accident. Quote

I think these are the attaching bolts of which the Doc references… Note the flap torque tube is removed as I was in the middle of the stub spar beef up SB. (And I cleaned up that grime, too.) 1 Quote
Michael Saathoff Posted October 1, 2022 Report Posted October 1, 2022 Hi Jimbob, I'm in exactly the same situation with my M20C. I'd love to speak with you and compare notes if you wouldn't mind. Thanks, Mike Quote
Regis Posted March 7, 2023 Report Posted March 7, 2023 Hi, I'm having a similar problem. Did you ever find a solution? Quote
Michael Saathoff Posted March 7, 2023 Report Posted March 7, 2023 Hi, I'm having a similar problem. Did you ever find a solution? I got replacement flap hinges at a salvage yard and ordered replacement bolts. It worked fine but they are difficult to replace though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
