Okay, so .. mag timing was checked. Ended up adjusting by a couple of degrees, then re-checked by two different mechanics.

I was hopeful that the minor adjustment is what was needed, but alas. It still shows basically zero drop during a regular mag check at run-up, and also still shows a noticeable drop if done at a lower rpm.

The engine dies immediately when switched to “Off.” I do this every time I shut down.

You turn the engine off with the key every time?

Most people pull the mixture while watching for an increase in rpm…

When the fuel gets used up, the engine dies… then the switch is moved to off…

Probably different issue than your rpm drop/no drop….

Keep describing your situation…

We may be getting closer….

my IO550 drop is also larger at lower rpm… and it’s run-up procedure uses two different rpms for mag and prop tests…

I verify the P-lead with a quick switch to “Off” to make sure it kills the ignition, then back to “Both” and a normal idle/cutoff for shutdown..
