Does anyone know where I can find a cut off switch for the PC systems? It is the button sort off thing that drops into the hole in the right side of the yoke. Mine is missing. I would like to replace it.

Hey Lisa!

How’s the plane working out?

With all the GFC500s going in… there may be a couple of those Brittain valve buttons coming out…

If you don’t get any positive replies…

Find @Alan Fox, @Jerry Pressley, and @SheryLoewen… (these fine people deal in the pre-flown parts)

Then find the 35mm film canister that holds the button down… or the broccoli rubber band…. :)

Good luck with the hunt!

Oh… hey… did you remember to look in all the obvious hidden locations where the last pilot to push it may have put it?  It was a standard procedure back in the day to remove the button.  The canister and rubber band got invented after that…

Best regards,

@Lisa, just be aware that the PC button isn't a "switch," it's a temporary disconnect that must be held down; as soon as you let go, PC is back On. For this reason, it's on the left yoke. I can hold mine down with a finger and still press the PTT button with my thumb.

Some people have installed a toggle switch in their panel that really does turn off the PC. Not sure how that works, I don't have one.

The panel mounted switch is an alternate method that gets mentioned around here…

Essentially an electrically operated valve that does the same thing…

The industrial world has a few reliable devices like this…

There was a pneumatic version of a panel mounted cut out valve too.  Jerry Walters told me what system it was derived from but I don't remember.  See pic just above the right knob on the audio panel.  I use it often.  Jerry installed the one on my plane.

KThe newer set up is a electric valve on the firewall and a switch in the yoke     you could also put a toggle switch on the panel.   Switch just complete the ground.
