Ladies and Gents,

Need a little advice.  Installing a new panel and the shop has offered a draft layout.  Seems OK but I'm concerned about the Alt Preselect position.  Thoughts?

Not sure about the Alt Preselect but I think I would want my AOA indicator (assuming this means Angle of Attack) closer to my line of site out the windshield.  Less eye/head movement especially when landing.  Just a thought.

I assume the 930 is something you already have as an existing unit. I would be inclined to suggest a GI-275 EIS and then use an Ipad as a large MFD that also displays engine data. At least this is my plan to replace my JPI 700. If you already have a 930 then disregard.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear.  It's to calibration panel for the Alpha Heads up unit.  Thanks for the feedback!

I moved everything down another 1/2" and put my Mooney annunciator along the top middle of the pilots side panel. This allows me to see any warnings right in front of me and gives me extra space in the radio stack. You'll also need to cut a spot for the RAD for your JPI-930. You could use one of the 2" holes where your MP/RPM was to put a Guardian CO detector/Pulse Oxymeter and interface it with your JPI930.

Three things I'd suggest + one observation...

  • Leave the ALT/VS preselect where it is.
  • Move the TKS control panel to the left of the ALT/VS preselect...equidistant from the control column to the left, and centered vertically with the ALT/VS panel across on the right
  • Locate your AOA indicator above your TKS control panel
  • Move your EDM930 either lower or higher to accommodate a standby ADI

I can't read the red writing where you're pointing to the two round gauges, but I assume you will cut a new panel, so these will go away.

To read the extra detail in the pics...  click the pic, and the HD aspect gets revealed....

Click it again it opens in another window revealing everything...

Somewhere along the way the pinch zoom is enabled making it really easy to read...
