Owen M20F Posted October 16, 2020 Report Posted October 16, 2020 Okay, so i think I’ve narrowed down my issue with the very high CHT on my F model. I believe it’s an issue with my JPI800, i think this is the issue because i flew today and when i had just started up and was just taxiing around i noticed my temps Were super hot for a 1000-1200 rpm idle. 1200EGT and 300CHT. I figure there is now way I’m making that much heat on the ground at such a low power setting. When i was flying i kept an eye on the old school mechanical CHT gauge and it never even hit 400! Made me very happy, now let’s figure out why my jpi is being stupid Quote

Made me very happy, now let’s figure out why my jpi is being stupid learn how to download this data... Then send it over to Savvy... Then share the data... Then post the link here... You will be surprised at the number of engineers and mechanics and other tech knowledgable people that will see what you have... Expect the data to be real, until you can prove it to be wrong... Compare it to the ship’s analog gauge... cause that’s what really counts! Got any FF data to go with that? Keep supplying data... Best regards, -a- Quote
Guest Posted October 16, 2020 Report Posted October 16, 2020 What type of probe is being used for the CHT? Spark plug gasket or bayonet? It makes a big difference in the accuracy of the reading. Clarence Quote
kmyfm20s Posted October 16, 2020 Report Posted October 16, 2020 Make sure the the hot exhaust is not leaking through the gasket onto the CHT probe. 1 Quote

Guest Posted October 16, 2020 Report Posted October 16, 2020 From JPI, type and location make a difference. Clarence Quote
carusoam Posted October 17, 2020 Report Posted October 17, 2020 Owen, See if you and Stan are chasing the same issue... just ignore the part about rushing to the hangar... Best regards, -a- Quote

Best regards, -a- Seems that we are having different issues, I’m going to try and get it in the shop soon to figure it out. The engine monitor isn’t a huge priority, I’ve done without until now but would love to get it squared away Quote
