An idle speed that's 200 RPM too high made the difference between a 500ft and a 2500ft landing length for me. Very true! Amazing the difference between a 1000 RPM idle and a 750 RPM idle.
EricJ Posted May 25, 2020 Report Posted May 25, 2020 Yup, that's how I learned to not set my idle rpm too high. 1
Niko182 Posted May 26, 2020 Report Posted May 26, 2020 Checked it out today. Definitely on the shorter side but I don't think I'd have a problem going in there routinely. a 252 will have no problem there. I also came in fast at 73 instead of 67 - 70 knots sothere was a bit of float. I could have done it considerably shorter. I used 1300ft of runway. I'd probably do the ferry flight, but sadly the majority of my time in in an ovation and not a 252.
ilovecornfields Posted May 26, 2020 Report Posted May 26, 2020 (edited) Vortex generators might not be a bad idea either if the plane is going to be based at a short field. Mine dropped the stall speed by several knots and they are really helpful in crosswinds. Edited May 26, 2020 by ilovecornfields 1 1
