Prior owner Posted November 22, 2019 Report Posted November 22, 2019 Anybody try these yet? Steady / Pulsating Position Lights The idea is kinda interesting. I am wondering if the bulbs automatically reset to “constantly on” every time you shutdown. If they simply change from constant to pulse every other time the power is applied, that would be a PITA during the day to figure out whether they are pulsing or not. Any reviews yet?

Ive seen those on a couple cessnas at my field. Personally not a fan. I think its easier to see the strobes in white.
EricJ Posted November 22, 2019 Report Posted November 22, 2019 They're supposed to only turn on strobe mode if you turn them on twice within three seconds or something like that. A friend has the Navstrobe version in his Cherokee and they've always worked as advertised. I had a set in my airplane for a couple years and could never get them to turn on strobe mode when I wanted, and once in a while the green one would just wake up in strobe mode when I first turned it on. Overall I liked them, but recently replaced them with Whelen Orion 600s, mostly so I could ditch the old power supplies for the strobes. I don't know what the Aero-lights are like, but be careful of the power output level. I first bought a set of the 7.5W Navstrobes and I felt that they were way too dim to be effective, so got the higher power versions (which I'm not sure what they were at the time, it appears that aircraft spruce may no longer carry whatever it was that I bought at the time). TSO-C30c is the spec for nav lights, so get something that is at least compliant with that. Not all of them claim to be. Also, the strobe function can only be used during the day. At night the nav lights have to be on continuously. I don't think they're very visible during the day, so the strobe function is, imho, kind of a gimick.
