Dropped off the plane at Executive Autopilots in Sacramento today to begin the panel transformation. I will be checking in and taking pictures. It's about time! Laughing

Sadly, pretty much as soon as it gets out, it goes to my first annual.

That's how mine went too Dave.  I brought her back from the avionics upgrade earlier this year, had a few weeks with it and then the boost pump went out which waited due to time required to get it overhauled until it went into annual.  Just got her back this week and can't wait to get her up in the air again this weekend!

That's great news Dave.  I know you have been planning and visualizing this for quite a while.  Hope it exceeds your "vision" of what you wanted to be.  I'm sure it will.  Enjoy flying behind it and post some pics on progress, I enjoy seeing them.

Oooh. Sounds ominous. I know my annual won't be cheap. In addition to the usual inspection, I have a list of squawks to address and I know I need to replace the bushings/bolts in the tail assembly and would like to change to the 40:1 gear set as well as put in the seatbelts I bought last year.  Oh boy, I'm in for it!Surprised

Very nice....so what all are you putting in?  Looks like some big holes on the copilot side...

Wow, Congratulations Dave, it looks like it is going to be extremely functional and will fit in there very nicely.  I hope it all goes smoothly for you.  It should be a real pleasure sitting behind those screens.  Very nice design!!  Good luck and please post pictures of the progress!!

Dave,

That should be awesome.  I am excited for you.  When do you think you will get it back?  What kinda down time are you looking at?   I am wanting a 430/SL-30 combo as well.  Let us know what you think of the MVP-50.  I would love to put something like that in my F.

Ya might want to make sure that the avionic shop knows that it is called "Ram Air" NOT "RamP Air"  ;)

Went to go visit the plane last week. Here are the obligitory guts pictures. All the engine probes are in and waiting for the panel. The SL-30 is in and the new breakers are in. Panel should be cut this week.

Questions-

How do you think the following equipment is worth used?

JPI 700 with Fuel Flow.

King KX 125 Nav Com

Original Garwin guages

AirGizmo Panel Mount for a 496

Also, they found that the static line on the left of my plane had a hole in it, so they removed all my plastic panels to patch it. This is a great opportunity for me to lay in the wiring for an eventual 406 ELT upgrade in the future. The problem is, I need to kind of commit to a brand now, because they use different wiring. Any suggestions? The ACK E-04 seems like the clear winner to me, but I know very little about ELTs.

Thanks again!

dave..I was at exec autopilots last fri (Iwas having Dan trouble shoot a pitch servo glitch)and while waiting for him ,I checked out your bird...nice....i noticed the comment "hole in the static line"that a previous mechanic had drilled through.Be glad they are a good shop and discovered that now rather than later. While I was there,I discovered some interesting things about the shop that installed my g500...stuff for another thread...anyway enough of that...I know you will be thrilled when you get er back...kp couch

Seeing everyone's pictures of panel innards hanging out always scares the hell out of me. Like, how could ANYONE actually put all that back together again in such a tight space and make everything work? But amazingly, they do.  Mooney avionics people are like microsurgeons...sure glad we don't have to pay them as much! (On second thought, maybe we are!)

It's back!  Sort of. It's not 100% finished, but it's done enough for me to fly it to Top Gun for it's annual. When the annual's done, I will fly it back for the conclusion. Still to be done is, proper labling for the annunciator lights, mounting of the XM antenna, spliting the airframe mounted GPS antenna so it will share with the 696, a special audio plug needed for the 696 and install an airspeed transducer that I need to get gear warning through the MVP-50. I also discovered there is something really wrong with my Nav 1 CDI. My Stec 30 needs looking at too. It has strange wiring issues and altitude hold problems. These may be related to the problem with Nav 1 CDI. Eventually I will put in a new glare shield and when I do, we will install electro-luminecent light strips underneath and the dimmer pot to control them.

Anyhow, so far it's worked out great! Here's before and after.Laughing
