HawkDriver Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 We will be moving to San Antonio in august and I'm trying to plan ahead and line up a mechanic for future annuals and miscellaneous airplane fixes. Also looking for an inexpensive place to hangar in the San Antonio area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Most of his work is done on Ovations and Acclaims. He's also typically booked up 4 to 6 months out. 1 Quote
TCC Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 @HawkDriver. I live in the SAT area now and relocated from COS last year. The answer to your question on where to hangar is it depends on how long you want to drive. If you'd like, shoot me a pm and I'll share my knowledge. Depending on your needs, I can think of a several options. 1 Quote
jetdriven Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 (edited) It's not Dugosh anymore it's Gemini and it's not owned by Ronnie anymore. . In fact only two people from the old Dugosh work there. My friend had his wing removed for a stub spar replacement. After he paid the 19k for the repair he found out the autopilot and airspeed weren't working. They ran screws through the pitot line and the autopilot wire bundle. It cost him 5k for repairs and they didn't offer anything for the repairs. Your choices your money. He just fixed a fuel leak for me. He is one of the most competent and honest people I know. I have used him for other things in years past when he was a mechanic working for Ronnie. He is the right guy for the job. 1 Quote

Talk to Jimmy Martinson at 210-5570798. If you don't mind driving west to Castroville the fuel is cheap and they have built new hangars which are about $330 per month. (830) 931-0224 Northwest of San Antonio is Boerne Stage Airport. Their hangars start at around $400 (830) 981-2345 1 Quote

He will always be willing to take questions however. Agree it's worth at least a phone call to him so you both can discuss your situation and expectations. Steve Quote

He fixed some previous oversights, installed LED's around the wings, hydro' the O2 tank, all in just over a week. Picked it up and they had even cleaned the exterior. Just wanted to share a recent experience. Russ 3 Quote
jetdriven Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 Davis is good, and so is Vannette. However when theyre's 15 planes in the hangar, 1/3rd are Mooney's, and only 4 of the mechanics have an A&p, I don't know how you specify only David works on your plane. Quote

daps Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 If you end up on the west side of S.A., you might consider San Geronimo Airpark (8T8). I've had my Mooney there for 15 years. Upside - great people who live with their airplanes and home of EAA Chapter 35 so lots of airplane lovers to hang out with. Downside, pretty much daytime VFR only (no lights, no instrument approach) and no gas but KCVB and KHDO are an easy Mooney hop away and have great fuel prices. Several nice hangars for rent right now (about $325/month) and a couple for sale. My mechanic worked for Mooney years ago so knows his stuff on older Mooneys. Allows some owner assist if you're willing to turn screws. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. Quote
