Hi MS'ers,

Looking for some help. I had my ARI cowl mod repaired Yesterday. There were a few cracks starting in the fiberglass that needed reinforcing. I had removed most of the lower cowl but my mechanic took off the ram air door cable and I didn't watch him so I'm at a loss as to how the cable attaches to the bell crank. Does anyone have a picture of the assembly?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Steve,

The outer cable is secured to the left side of the air duct accessible through the left cowl panel.  The end of the ram air arm has a dished bushing through which a bolt or stud passes.  The bolt or stud has a hole through which the inner wire of the cable passes and is pinched in the dished bushing. The bolt or stud is secured with a castle nut and cotter pin, do not tighten to much or you will damage the inner wire.

Ron and Clarence,

Thank you both for the quick response. it looks like the bolt, washer and nut are missing from my pile of screws and fasteners. They probably fell out while the cowling was being repaired. I'll check the hangar floor and post a photo when I get it back together.

Here are some pics in case anyone has any questions about how the cable attaches. Ron and Clarence were right on except mine has a lock nut without a cotter pin.

You should consider replacing that mixture control rod end, with a newer style from Mooney. Those are known to fall apart.

Clarence, thanks for the heads up. Will it work with the existing cable?
