Guitarmaster Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Just got the stratus installed. Took it for a short flight and LOTS of traffic showed up. Very cool. I have to do the validation flight for the rebate. That will probably happen this weekend. So far, I like it! 1 Quote
Mooneymite Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Congratulations! What are you using to display that traffic? Quote

amillet Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Do you have an external antenna? I mount mine on the back window behind my head. Yours is out of the way Quote

Hector Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Very cool! I'm leaning heavily towards this solution. Would you mind sharing rough installation cost? Quote

Just to install the Stratus should be around 2 AMU i would think. Quote
Guitarmaster Posted October 24, 2016 Author Report Posted October 24, 2016 Did the validation flight today. She passed with "flying" colors. Afterward, i went to claim my rebate.... Why am I not surprised.... :/ Brought to you by the same folks that administer the Obamacare website. Quote
cloud116 Posted November 1, 2016 Report Posted November 1, 2016 I also just had one installed. Works great. Couldn't believe all the traffic at University of North Dakota. In hindsight, though, I should not have mounted the Stratus ESG in the same place I had my Garmin 327, which is just above the throttle quadrant of my '75F. The keys on the Stratus ESG stick out quite a bit further than those of the 327. Just about every flight I manage to bump a key when I use the throttle, prop, or mixture, which messes up the squawk code. I now make sure I keep my written clearance handy. On another note, at the same time I had installed a Flightstream 210. Holy cow does that save time. For the most part I use preferred routes via the ForeFlight flight planning tool and use the 210 to send them to my 430. Very impressive. 1 Quote
