bonal Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 Lake County having its annual fly in for sea planes and there was an accident. Turns out a Grumman Widgeon came in for a routine water landing forgot to put UP his gear after just departing 1o2 barely a minutes flight time away. Both on board were injured but not critical. There is a good article on Lake County news no sensationalism just an account of what happened. Kind of the opposite of the go around when gear is stowed but not deployed. Quote
kpaul Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 Oops. Why did you crash? "Forgot to put the gear up" Not something you hear very often. Glad everyone was alright. Quote
Mooneymite Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 "... forgot to put UP ..." Gee, sometimes you just can't win! Very often this type of accident has a very bad outcome. Looks like the water wasn't too deep. Glad there were no fatalities. 1 Quote
Guest Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 They do make a "bitching Betty" for amphibious aircraft. It is driven by gear position and airspeed. Clarence Quote

Marcopolo Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 I know a doctor with a SeaRay amphib. He has the "Bitching Betty", he's still managed to land in the water with gear down and landed on the runway with gear up. My guess is it sounds too much like someone else in his life. 1 Quote
