TWinter Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 Anyone have good source to look up rental aircraft. Mine is in the shop for a while..I"m having withdrawals from flying. I had thought I would rent my old Cherokee 140 from the guy I sold it to.. At the same field. The shop says it's out of annual and since the guy I sold it to never got his PP he has no real ambition to get it in for annual (it's only out by a few months, but out is out). Nothing else local in my area that I'm able to find. Anybody know of the best website or ideas on sourcing aircraft rentals. I'm in west TN (Dyersburg, TN). I'm sure there are places in Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville, but that's a pretty good distance. I've looked on the web some and can't seem to find any place near by. Anybody have good suggestions or ways to source a rental? The folks are headed to Destin, FL the end of the month. They are driving and will be there a week. I thought about renting something and flying down for a few days, but renting something for a few days would be crazy money. Not having much luck on locating rentals.. -Tom
carusoam Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 What's an annual cost for that machine? What's exercising the machine worth? A conversation might work out something worthwhile to both of you. insurance costs usually get in the way of renting from an individual. otherwise, flying clubs are an alternative. Dues might require membership for longer than you want to pay for... Best regards, -a- 1

Best regards, -a- I thought about springing for the cost or part of the cost of annual to use it while mine was down...great idea, BUT, the shop that does the annual is the one that is doing my work. I want mine done before they spend time on his annual.. lol. -Tom
smwash02 Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 Will the shop let you help with the annual? I deliver a plane without any panels on sitting on jacks. This way I can have the whole part of the annual I can't control done in under a day.
neilpilot Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 You might check rentals at KTKX? [BTW my Mooney is also visiting your in M05] 1
N601RX Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Just offer to swap them some time in your Mooney! I've looked at renting a few times while traveling to interesting areas but few times I looked into it seemed like more trouble than it was worth. 1

I saw it parked on the ramp. Mine was in a million pieces inside. Was just there today getting the rest of my interior to send to Hector at AeroComfort. Looks like the guys will be busy at M05. Sam Jewell has a 172 posted on the airport website at KTKX. I plan to check that option this weekend. -Tom
