MooneyMitch Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 A gorgeous day in California and we are off in the Mooney to Sutter Creek for Thanksgiving with Jolie's Dad. I'll surely again be removing my shoes with this flight, but on my own accord. Maybe an ehanced pat-down during flight too! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on MooneySpace! Quote
DaV8or Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 I flew my Mooney to Santa Maria for Thanksgiving with my Mother in law. Wonderful weather and true magic carpet ride. The S Tec 30 rocks! Here's a picture of 89M in back of the Raddison hotel. It was the first time I have put the cover on, so it took a little head scratching and I think the front straps are supposed to have some sort of snaps to fasten them. I got by by threading the front strap between the fuselage and the gear doors. Tight fit, but it works. I'll have to call Bruce's and ask about the snaps. Quote
lahso Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 My honey and I flew to Dauphin Island (4R9) for a week of sticking our toes in the sand. Great Wx most of the week, and very quiet out on the west end. Quote

lahso Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Yeah, Dauphin Isl is a neat place. I was the only one on the ramp for three days, then closer to Thanksgiving, two others showed up. The runway is in great shape, and the tie downs look new. No fuel or other services, though. Quote

RJBrown Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 I have been so busy getting things done around the house that my flying has suffered. Before I put the roof on my new storage shed Friday I went Flying. My son and I got up early for the Black Friday specials at Cabelas. Centennial to Sidney Nebraska was 54 minutes. Shopped for a while ate the free doughnuts and hot chocolate. Got home by 9. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted November 27, 2010 Author Report Posted November 27, 2010 We had a fun two days of travel by Mooney. Not long flights though. Up to Sutter Creek Thanksgiving Day and back the next with two Mooney's. Retrieved the E model after having the baffle system replaced. Wow, it's only money folks!!! Yikes!! Quote
BlueSkyTraveler Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 My wife and I flew to see my sister at RMN--Stafford, VA--- 1 NM outside of the Wash DC SFRA. We had great weather, especially for the northeast. Tonight flying back we looked at interstate 81 belwo us and could see a line of vehicles stretching from Harrisonburg to Roanoke, VA. Made me happy to be traveling by Mooney! Course I am always happy to be traveling by Mooney! Quote
MooneyMitch Posted November 28, 2010 Author Report Posted November 28, 2010 This is so good to hear all the Mooney flying stories over Thanksgiving weekend. Our offical flying weekend is over now. Just returned from Santa Monica this eveing. What a gorgeous day down over the Coast and into LA and home. Amazingly clear it was. Driving to the airport today, in the going home holiday traffic made us so happy we were not going to be down in it for long. People get just a bit crazy, getting all bunched up together on the highways. It is a fun feeling to be looking down on the snarled cars as we fly over. Happy Mooney flying everyone! Quote
Bob Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Harry, Nothing better than seeing the traffic jamb below you! Quote
HopePilot Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Just got back from Vegas baby! Pretty good crosswind takeoff from Henderson (about 20 knots) and then strong winds back into Burbank (gusting in the 20s). The great thing about having a plane like the Mooney is that you arrive refreshed and ready to go. We enjoyed the whole day (shopping, buffet, etc.) and still had the energy to catch Bill Cosby doing his thing that night. Quote
Seth Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I didn't fly on Thanksgiving, but I used the weekend to replace my battery with a Concord and to practice some commercial manuvers. Quote
