Jayhawk_aviator Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Should all M20Js have squat switch (not the limit switch, but the weight on wheels switch)? I seem to recall in the IPC it is not applicable to all serial numbers. Thanks, Scott Quote
ArtVandelay Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 I believe it's actually a airspeed switch, not a squat switch on the landing gear. At least that's the way it is for early Js Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Early J's have a squat switch on the left main gear. Later they went to an airspeed switch behind the ASI. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote

Marauder Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 The air switch can also be found on some earlier vintage Mooneys (1960s vintage). My 1975 F has the mechanical switch. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Jayhawk_aviator Posted July 4, 2016 Author Report Posted July 4, 2016 Thanks guys...makes sense. Mine is a 78 and has an airspeed switch, but no squat switch (weight on wheels). Anyone know the airspeed that the airspeed switch activates? Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 4, 2016 Report Posted July 4, 2016 I don't recall exactly, but think it is in the neighborhood of 60 knots or so. Adjustable slightly, and easily damaged during pitot static checks. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
kris_adams Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 My '79 has the airspeed switch. We overhauled the asi a few years ago and the shop forgot to adjust it before I departed. I had to return and after spending 15 min on the phone with the local MSC (Joey Cole) they were able to get it adjusted in about an hour. IIRC, it was set to between 75 and 80 MPH. Quote
bradp Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 The service manual describes the squat versus airspeed switch. The change to airspeed switch happened in ~ mid SN 1977 J models. Brad Quote
