Suddenly seeing the reasons for regulatory agencies...EPA, FDA, FAA do have value.

Keeping them up with the times is the added challenge.

Guess they didn't get the EZ Pass RFID transponder system.

Best regards,

India and China have more than a Billion people EACH! Combined, that's seven to eight times the US population . . .

On the other hand, we don't build our roads with picks, shovels and wheelbarrows, to provide jobs and food to the laborers who would riot if you showed up with a dozer and finished the road in a week . . . But by the time you acquire property, survey it, do the environmental impact studies, plan for remediation and reroutes, acquire more land, set aside "wetlands," go to court several times, apply for zonign and permits, THEN get to start construction, the handbuilt road will already be finished and in use. First World Problems, but as seen above, they are beginning to bleed into other areas along with their own Third World problems [too many people, inefficient farming, poor water distribution, poverty, lack of jobs, etc.].

I am not sure that our methodology of using bulldozers and mechanized equipment is any faster.  They took 6 years and $60 million + to build 6.2 miles on a bypass near where I live.  And they wonder why the roads in this country are falling apart.  I think the only people who support the current model of road and bridge building are the civil engineers and construction companies who fleece the taxpayers.  I will ignore any quality differences as I have seen the work in China and it doesn't impress me and I am wondering about the work done here as well.
