And here I thought the wood wing was a wooden spar! The craftsmanship in these wings is beautiful!! Sand it smooth and coat it with polyurethane, let the grain show.

Very cool to see the bare wood. Really hope someone takes it on.  I hear not much wood wing expertise left out there anymore.

Man ............. what a diamond in the rough ! I would be really interested in buying this but have to consider transport and all the airframe work that needs to be done along with getting the engine and prop taken care of.

What is your bottom dollar on this ?

Exactly my thought as well. As far as finding the woodworking skill sets, I would find a marine woodworking shop and an IA that knows them well who is willing to sign off on the work. New England has plenty of them.

As far as some woodworking skills, my first thought is the WACO guys. They restore the vintage ones with wood spars ilke they were originally. At least its a start. They may have the proper skillset or at least know someone that does.

I wish I had the money to bring this back to flying condition with a touch of modern flair. :-)

When the wood wing was converted to metal by the factory a few knots were lost which assisted the decision to increase power.

That wood wing was/is so smooth

Me to I'd go as original as possible with only newer radios for today's environment. It would be my Sunday VFR machine for fun flying.:)

I'd go broke just replacing the shock disks alone! I counted FOURTEEN total. Must be smoooooth in the air AND on the ground!
