  1. Good Morning Mooniacs, I find myself needing to replace our Concorde RG35. I am curious as to if any of you have tried any of the newer battery brands with better technology. I have always bought Concorde over the years and love their reliability but I am wondering about advancements in battery technology. Thanks, Walt
  2. Good afternoon Fellow Mooniacs, Iam on a parts search. Continential pn 646243 is a fuel line for the no 3 cylinder on the TSIO-360-LB. I am going through annual and our IA says he can not find a replacement. Apparently, ours is cracked. If you have a used or new one on your shelf, please PM me. Thank you in advance, Walt
  3. Awesome turn out of some awesome people. Joey Cole is "The Mooney Master" for organizing such a cool event. Thank you, Joey.
  4. Good morning. Redline on this engine is 40 inches. I usually set it at 38 to 39 for take off and she seems to hold just fine. Neither intercooler nor an automatic wastegate installed. And, as per my engine builder's recommendation, I run ROP all the time. I enrichen it back about 100 degrees south of peak TIT.
  5. Main Turbo in Visalia, Ca. They could not be more helpful and knowledgeable.
  6. Well after talking to the shop that overhauled my turbo last year, they feel like it is a failing pressure relief valve. And have offered to take care of it.
  7. When returning home yesterday, I was cruising at 11,500 feet and had a setting of 31.5 and 2400 rpm. The MP was cycling between 31.7 and 30.5. It seemed to be every 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. Good afternoon, Our engine was overhauled about 9 months ago. In that time I have put about 40 hours on her. I have noticed that once cruise power is set, Usually 75% AT 12,500 feet, I am getting MP variances by as much as .8 inches. And it will cycle back and forth. Does anyone have any thoughts on where to look here?
  9. I have the 830. So it is showing all the time. I didn't notice the voltage in flight but there were no red alarms showing.
  10. Update: Old / Current 3 year old battery shows 12.3 volts on external volt meter. Whereas the JPI voltage indicator was low at 11.7. New Battery on the shelf shows 12.85 Proceeding with solenoid troubleshoot. Also calling JPI regarding the voltage misreading.
  11. Thank you for all of the insights. I need to mention that the low voltage lights were extinguished after start up. The Am meter was in the positive at all times during the flight. There was never a point, at which, either indicator showed a lack of charging. One electrician friend has suggested to check all of the grounds associated with the system. I am also going to have the shop check the alternator and alternator clutch to eliminate those.
  12. I forgot to mention that this is an Energizer Starter, Part No. 646238.
  13. So the same results on a brand new battery do not negate that diagnosis? What about the fact that they could then turn the prop on the old battery when it was reinstalled?
  14. Good Morning All, I have a bit of a brain teaser here. I'd like to see what you think. Subject aircraft was flown on Saturday for a total of 5.5 hours on two flights with no issues. And this starting system has NEVER given me an issue till yesterday. Yesterday she started fine and flew for 2.5 hours. We stopped for rest break and refuel. About 30 minutes later we boarded and tried to start. The blade made one rotation and then stopped. I tried again, this time the blade would not move. Upon pushing the start button you could tell there was plenty of juice in the battery. Yet when the button was pushed you could see a power drain going on yet no prop movement. A check of the volt meter shows 11.7 volts on the battery. Interesting as she was charging for the past 2.5 hours. The Concorde battery had been installed on 01-01-2020, according to the markings on it. So it is only 3.5 years old. We changed it out with a new one right there on the ramp. Same exact result. So the shop I left it with reinstalled my old battery. They now can get the prop to turn. Any thoughts? I'd hate to take it with an iffy starter or solenoid. Or could something else be happening? Thank you in advance, Walt
  15. Does anyone know of the specs or part number for the light bulbs that provide panel lighting from the dash pad? Thank you in advance, Walt
  16. "Real Turbocharger Pilots" do not need a wastegate and intercooler. :-)
  17. I will never forget when I was booed out of a thread here, several years ago, when I suggested that type specific recurrent trained followed by a check ride would be a tremendous help to the accident rate and our insurance rates. I was right then and today. Bring on the flames.
  18. I would really like to hear of your experience here.
  19. After ten years of of aircraft ownership, I am seriously considering pulling my support of this industry. Over the past 12 months I have had three visits to three different maintenance facilities. The increased prices combined with lack of parts availability is bad enough. However, when you add the the lack of labor in these shops, it has me truly worried about mistakes being made that will effect my aircraft and my family. Furthermore, I have been blatantly RIPPED OFF by a used parts shop and a propeller shop in this past year by misrepresentations and lies. In both cases they are shops that I have done business with and used to trust. I spend a lot of money every year, making sure that my aircraft is maintained up to the same standard that I enjoy at my airline job. It is simply necessary in my opinion. I do not carry squawks all year till annual time. I get everything fixed when it breaks. I keep my databases up and watch the expiration dates on required maintenance. But we have to have help from the shops that we are paying for vital services. If the major organizations such as AOPA and EAA are not going to stand up and set a standard for the services that their members receive in the market then why should I be forced to do that job for them. As things are now in General Aviation, it makes more sense and sanity to sell the airplane and rely on the airlines. Or even buy a share at NetJets or PlaneSense. What Say you?
  20. The hill will be a lot smaller in the future. This kind of work will only be given to "Experienced" Mooney Shops. Why someone, (With 3 sets of eyes in the shop), didn't see the rudder going full right deflection while she was on the jacks, I will never know. However, If anyone wants to know of a shop to avoid in Georgia then PM me your cell number. We will talk.
  21. Gentlemen, Thank you for the assistance. We have this issue figured out. In the setup, the standard default is 50 gallons. I have raised to 72. So far I love this EDM 830. Fly Safe, W
  22. I have a newly installed 830 and am still learning it. One issue I am coming up with is on boot up it asks if I’ve refueled. I say yes and then it instantly shows 50 gallons onboard and offers to let me adjust. I try to adjust to full tank which is 72 gallons. But it will only allow me to adjust up by 13.9 gallons. Any thoughts? ive tried to find the reset if this perimeter in the install guide but can’t find the setting. Thanks in advance, W
  23. Good Morning All, I have an overhauled Pitch Servo that is being delivered from Autopilots Central this week. Since there is no avionics shop on the field I have an A&P friend who will assist me and do the sign off. I would like to know if anyone has advise on this install. I am currently reading the installation manual of course. But, wisdom from the group is certainly appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving, Walt
  24. Quick, unrelated question. Is it possible to get GPSS Steering out of a Century 4?
  25. Can someone with a parts manual confirm the following upper truss part numbers and what model they go to? 540004-511 verus 540004-509
