Bob_Belville Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Bill, sorry to hear about your fall! Mend fast. 30 miles in which direction from Wilgrove? Quote
TWinter Posted June 3, 2015 Author Report Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for the ideas and input. I think Bob Belville is thinking pretty much along the lines I was. I like to tinker and get involved with the maintenance as much as I can. Having my mechanic on the field would be probably the biggest bonus, having a brand new hanger would be the bonus as well. They still have not poured the apron yet so I have time to think on it. They have my name on the list and a the first month rent. There is already a waiting list from what I hear so no pressure to decide just yet. It's there if I decide to go that route. Quote
bonal Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Short of living above my hangar it's always better to be closer to your airplane vs further. It takes me 15 min to get to the field whenever I compare travel times vs ground I have to factor to and from the fields pre flight etc in my total travel time. There are a few airports close that have cheaper gas but they are only close by air not ground. We have only one airport in our county the next closest is close to an hours drive. Quote

carusoam Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Does a SC ranch come with a runway? Or do you need to build your own? One of us has built one on their Texas property (photos are in his gallery if you need some ideas) Quote

One of us has built one on their Texas property (photos are in his gallery if you need some ideas) Best regards, -a- Not looking for that much property. would be nice but too much to keep up. The idea is to downsize somewhat. The airports closest to the area we want to live are much more expensive than what I have now and the cheaper ones are not much closer so I'll stay where I am.
