fantom Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 I thought you were buying an Accord?! 1 Quote
fantom Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 What he failed to mention was the second smell you will experience. With your group of girls, I would think you 'enjoy' that aroma all the time.... Quote
StinkBug Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 ...... I'm sure he will get a question about landing gear up or not. If it were me, I'd probably have the gear up to get the longest glide, then forget all about it in the last few feet. This is a good question. I'd think that if it looked like you were going to land someplace where the aircraft was likely to sustain major damage no matter what, being gear up would get you stopped a lot faster and shorten the amount of space required to get stopped. If you're looking at landing on a wide paved road on the other hand, you may choose to put the gear down and land normally like the dude that gave that Ford the slice and dice treatment a couple weeks ago. aaronk25 Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 There is only a few of us that know that terrible gear up sound but you might be surprised how far these things slide with the gear up. 1 Quote
Mooney_Allegro Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Wow, I just viewed the video, he's one lucky guy. Glad he's ok and hope this isn't any type of major set back for Mooney. Quote
mike_elliott Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 That's horrible hope Richard is actually ok, I spoke with him a couple weeks ago, actually rapped about purchasing the Acclaim, as Joe it's concerning...my gut is telling me to keep my Bravo GX...did anyone talk to Fred Ahles to get any info, Corby also does a lot of their flying he's a great instructor and transitioned me to the G1000. I so sorry for Richard and the Premiere family.... I talked to Fred and Jerry yesterday morning, Richard is doing fine, he was at SNF for a few hours yesterday. I may catch him there today, but I am sure he will not feel like going into detail quite yet, so I will leave him alone about it all. Quote
mike_elliott Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 My Acclaim has airbags; I'm sure this one did too. First Acclaim down that I know of. Have there been any others? I'm so glad that RS escaped with minor injuries. The wreck looked fatal just from the pix. What a relief. Dmax had one in his shop a year or so ago that was really busted up. Cant recall the details but it was trucked in in pieces. Didn't get sold that way. Quote
mike_elliott Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 An instructor told me early in my flying experience that the first thing you smell in the cockpit during an emergency is the smell of raw adrenaline. I got to know that smell. What he failed to mention was the second smell you will experience. I guess its' bad enough the ER team had to cut my clothes off. That said, it wasn't bad enough to wake me up.. 1 Quote

mike_elliott Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Could be wind sheer right? The weather was horrible and gusty. No Quote

I didn't get into a conversation of who what where when and how, as I am sure he will have all of the questions answered soon. I asked him if he wanted me to fly him back to Auburn, and he replied. "Heck no, Ill fly myself back." 4 Quote

Mooney_Allegro Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Again, I'm glad Mr. Simile is ok. This reminds me.... "Where are the M20J AmSafe seat belt options"? Please Mr. Richard Heitzman, offer something for us M20J guys. At least it would offer protection from some types of crashes. Quote

It's not quite an Acclaim, though. Quote
