urbanti Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 First annual on 1965 M20E. Trying to ensure that nothing is overlooked, on plane previously flown irregularly. For an a/c equipped with disposable oil filters, how many removeable/inspectable screens/filters need to be examined? In addition to the removeable oil filter, at least one more engine oil screen? A fuel selector screen. A fuel servo screen? Is there a separate inline fuel filter? Thx in advance, Tim Quote
MB65E Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 All yes... Pressure screen (oil filter) Oil suction screen. Bottom aft right corner of engine sump. Your gascalator- right under the selector Fuel servo inlet finger screen- left side, the line that goes from the engine driven fuel pump to the servo. On the servo itself behind the plug that the line from the pump goes in from. 1 inch hex fitting. 2 orings are required for replacement. Large and small... Finally, there was an AD back in the late 60's that installed an inline fuel screen just after the electric pump. I just learned of that one myself. Good luck with the inspection. -Matt Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 Matt nailed them all, the often over looked one is the inline filter on the outlet side of the electric boost pump on some Dukes equipped planes. I'd add the engine air filter, and the alternate air valve door tension check which is often missed. There is an older S/I listing the value. Clarence Quote
takair Posted August 27, 2014 Report Posted August 27, 2014 While talking about screens and filters, there is also the vacuum filter which may or may not be part of the instrument(s). There is also the garter over the vacuum regulator. If you have a PC with vacuum relay, there is a screen on the bottom of it. When I bought the plane, years ago, it was so plugged that the PC would not turn off with the push button. Also, if PC equipped you may have two more air filters in the tail. Quote
