triple8s Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Anyone have a Pirep on the downwind restaurant at KPDK? They supposedly have live music on Friday night anybody been there? Quote
Skywarrior Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Drinks are bad, food is pretty good. Great view of passing air traffic from back deck. Folk music in the evening on Friday. Kids not allowed after 7 PM on Saturday. A lot of locals show up there. Just outside the airport fence is 57th Fighter Group, a re-creation of a WW II English country bungalow, which has '60s and '70s music on the weekends, with a dance floor. You can watch the occasional plane taxi by from their back patio. Free A/C parking at Epps Aviation @PDK if you bring back a receipt for a meal at 57th. (57th is owned by Pat Epps.) Quote
fantom Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Concur...Downwind drinks are weak but food is OK, and it does have rustic ambiance. I signed the factory order for 49GH on that deck, 31 Dec 93 1 Quote
carusoam Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 We had the FG's sister restaurant in Fairfield, NJ. It was called the Bomber Squadron. It had a backwards tail mounted through the outside roof. As if a Mooney crashed there in the 40's! Brought a Jersey Girl there on our first date back in the 80’s. Tall hair and Firebirds... Now she let's me fly an O... Destiny calling, -a- 1 Quote
Jeff_S Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Downwind gets high points for ambience if you can sit out on the deck or at least the covered patio. Food is usually okay, but certainly not gourmet dining. Better food is at the 57th Fighter Group but prices are higher. It also has a good outdoor seating area if the weather allows. Quote
