  8. Adjust your altimeter to 0 feet( no matter what your current elevation is). Next read your barometric pressure in the kollsman window. This is what your M.P. gauge should indicate without the engine running.
  9. Turn your altemeter to read sea level ( 0 feet elevation no matter what your current elevation is). Then read barometric pressure in the kollsman window. This is what your MAP gauge should indicate at your current elevation without the engine running.
  10. Thats the static air port. Theres one on the other side of the fuselage just like it. Don't know what the bean bag is .
  11. Theory has it that... When new guides are installed the only thing holding them in place is the negative or press fit in the head. Over a few hundred hours of heat and cool cycles the metals equalizes their pressure against each other and the head squeezes the guide to a smaller dia. Sometimes the guide wears enough to compensate for this decreased clearance but when it doesn't you get a sticking valve. This does not seem to be a reoccurring problem once you have your guides reamed and after you pass a few hundred hours your chances of having the problem go away. If your airplane has the "Morning sickness" Have it looked at ASAP. This is the first sign of the doom to come. As I posted earlier you don't have to remove the cylinders to ream the valve guides. I believe the problem with Phillips X/C was the 2nd blend with a new additive that turned out not to be compatiable with aviation use. That blend was disscontinued back in the '80.
  12. The valve guides can be reamed without removing the cylinder. Takes removing the valve spring and pushing the valves in to the cylinder with the piston all to way down. Ream the guide, then fish the valves back into the guides with a hooked wire and a magnet and putting the springs back on. Takes about 1 hour per cylinder. Lycoming says if you do it once you won't have to do it again.
  13. The pre-load has no effect on gear tilt or camber. This is not ajustable
  14. Your landing gear is lock down with a joint much like your knee. When standing you have your knee locked over center and can hold lots of weight untill someone comes up behind you and pushes your knee forward and your almost fall. The force needed to push your knee forward is your pre-load. Same on your airplane. Light on your preload and the knee joint on your landing can collapse easily. Very important to know your pe-load.
  15. looks like 3 blades are safe. They use a 835-47.
  16. Not a problem. Some do it and some don't. It depends on how tight the tolerances are in the starter adapter.
  17. ASEI,Inc repairs spinners and may be able to repair yours. 404-5591946
  18. that is corrosion. Hows the rest of your airframe? You need a complete airframe inspection and treatment before it gets any worse. There are worse spots that you haven't seen yet.
  19. Crabtree Aviation in Guthrie works on mooneys
  20. An f crashed and burned killing 2 in Guymon Okla last Monday.
  21. I took mine off for a while. (cheap speed mod) The tail seemed to oscillate with my feet off the rudders in rough air like a "V" tail and didn't want to stop until I put my feet back on the pedals. Seemed to fly much better after I put it back on.
  22. I have a complete m20e exhaust system for sale or would trade for a m20c system
