  1. as mentioned above is to keep the speed below 100mph.... But the key is to simultaneously unload the wing as you bring the gear up. Do this and it's a piece of cake.
  2. Congrats!!! We need pictures!
  3. Not to keep tooting Mike Busch's horn but Aeroshell 15W50 according to him is the absolutely worse oil you can use and is the ONLY oil he specifically directs his clients not to use. Mike goes into detail in his All about Oil webinar. http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=1149666747001
  4. I looked at Log Ten Pro and it's a great Pilot logbook app if you have a Mac but for what I wanted to do, it was lacking on the tracking of components, systems, currency, etc side of things. SquawkLog is developed from the ground up to track and manage virtually anything on your aircraft. You can literally setup a Virtual Hobbs Meter (VHM) for anything on the aircraft that you want to track hours on. Give it a try... The price is right.
  5. Guys, Over the last year, I've been searching for a good software solution to better manage my Mooney. All that I found was some web subscription products that was more geared toward large fleets and not us Part 91 aircraft owners. I've been using spreadsheets and that was getter really old. So started working with a software developer to create one. My goal was to create something that would keep my data on my computer, not some cloud system that there's no telling what they can and will do with your data. So I wanted to control my data. I considered developing something for the iPad but since this is a serious database application, it's not suited for a mobile device entirely (more on that in a minute). SO the first release is a MS Windows version. I've been using it for a few months and it's all but eliminated my spreadsheets. For anyone that might be interested in it, here's the website for it: www.squawklog.com There's a free demo version available. The regular price is $129.95 but for the next couple of months it's on sale for $99.95. For MooneySpace users, you can use a discount coupon code of: mooney50 and get an additional $50 off for the next 30 days. So with the discount coupon and launch discount price, you can pick it up for just $49.95. This is a one time purchase, no monthly charges. You buy it. you own it! Futures Currently being developed is a companion iPad solution that can be used to collection hours, squawks, maintenance items, etc. while at your aircraft. This would sync with the PC version. Also, for those that REALLY think they have to have it completely mobile, we're looking at porting it over to the iOS/Android devices. We're also actively making enhancements to the product so any suggestions would be seriously considered as SquawkLog evolves. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  6. That video shows yet another reason I love my mooney... ATC was calling out planes as they flew by as high wing or low wing with the exception of your Mooney. Our planes are so cool there's no way you'd be mistaken for one of those other low wings. #mooneysoul
  7. Jerry just installed he 3rd engine in his M20C... Last year it won MAPA M20C of the year.
  8. Stefan - Give Jerry Johnson a call. Not sure if he will do IFR training but he provided my transition training and did a great job. He has 5000+ hours in Mooney's. PM me if you need his number.
  9. Robert - How did your check ride go?
  10. Any stock tips?
  11. I had similar strangeness happen where my low-voltage lite flickered from time to time. The issue turned out to be the alternator switch... go-figure.
  12. The EDM 700 would not work there. There's a two push buttons on the 700 at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions that would preclude putting it there without serious reworking of the overlay.
  13. Damn... This was going to be my next paint scheme...
  14. That was quick!
  15. I was told it was to hold a pinwheel to keep the birds off the vertical stabilizer.
  16. Okay Mooney experts, below is a picture of a metal tube attached to my rudder. I have some ideas why it's there but if there's anyone out there that can provide some history behind this, I'd love it hear it.
  17. After looking at it closer, it looks to me to be the Ari cowl mod with a 201 spinner. The air filter inlet looks custom. The pilot side air inlet was also removed.
  18. This is our virtual hangar and like our physical hangars, politics does raise it's ugly head. So folks that want to go at it, feel free. So I don't see the harm of giving those folks a corner of our virtual hangar to talk politics should be allowed. At least that way when it comes up in other threads, we can point them to their corner of the hangar.
  19. Looks like a LoPresti cowling.
  20. I lucked out as none needed the gaps adjusted. So what makes that tool worth the $50 they're asking?
  21. They only manage newer planes so you'll need to find out if your plane is eligible. Mine is not.
  22. Don't get me wrong, I understand that the overall Mooney fleet benefits from folks parting their planes out. That being said, there's just something that doesn't set well with me taking a flying aircraft and part it out... Guess it's just me.
  23. Really really sad. They're not making these planes anymore and we as Mooney owners are stewards for these planes and need to do whatever's necessary to keep them flying. If for whatever reason (in this case it sounds like for convenience) you don't want to deal with the plane, sale it! The ONLY planes that should be parted out are ones that was totaled from an accident or other reason can not be repaired or put back into flying condition. If we parted out our WWII planes due to corrosion, we'd only be watching replicas fly. Really really sad...
